Anytime a player stands inside the perimeter of an allied combo field, I suggest adding some sort of indicator to the skills on their bar that are combo finishers. This could be a highlight, a flashing or strobing effect, a semi-transparent letter “C” appearing superimposed over the skill icon, two arrows traversing the perimeter of the skill icon in opposite directions and colliding at the top of the icon, etc.

Just something to act as a visual clue to players that there are skills on their bar that can act as combo finishers. I know the tooltip description already includes this information. However, I find too often among players I’ve partied with that they aren’t even aware of what combo finishers are available to them. Yes, yes, they could read the tooltip description. After a year of the game being out and some players still not even aware of what combos are, that’s obviously not working, though.

The first time this new indicator is implemented and the player steps into a field, an in-game hint would pop-up informing them of the presence of a combo finisher on their skill bar. It might even be worth adding a combo tutorial area in Heart of the Mists. Players could then experiment with all possible fields and finishers to better learn how they function.

For those already in the know and who don’t want to be distracted by the visual indicator, a toggle could be added to the options menu to turn this function off.

So many souls, so little time. ~ Kraag Deadsoul

or take 5 seconds to read the tooltips on the skills. if people don’t want to be bothered with that, it’s really their own fault. they don’t need a crutch, they need a kick in the pants.
