I am not sure about the rest of you, but I never visit my home instance unless I was required by my personal story.
A suggestion I have is to make the home instance more personalized to the player. The instance should be smaller where only you and whoever you allow can enter. You should be able to furnish the home with items from vendors or the Trading Company (chairs, tables, paintings, etc..). Players can also acquire items/trophies while adventuring or completing achievements that they can use to decorate their house. Lord of the Rings online had a great player housing setup.
This may also encourage players to return to their home cities once in a while instead of always being in Lions Arch.
