Here’s my share of suggestions. It’s gonna be a long post with a few grammatical mistakes, so good luck reading it all (edit: Gotta split it in 2 posts cause of the body length limit)
1.) HOUSING:
(TL;DR: Current home instance is boring, we need something more interactive)
-Thoughts:
Okey here’s the thing. I know i’m not the only one who enjoys playing mmorpgs because of the “bonus features” and not the normal farming/questing stuff, so having an interactive housing system would make the game defenitelly more fun to play and attractive in many aspects.
-Suggestions:
To get a house we would first need a land, so to get things started, we’d have to talk with an NPC in every bigger town from which you will be able to buy some land.
Players would be able to choose between different types of lands with different properties (small, big, with water near it, surrounded with trees, windy, fogy, ect.). Of course the price would depend based on which properties you would choose. To make it more “role-playish”, the land list (with random land properties) would refresth once per day and once a player would buy that land, it would disapear from the list.
Players would also be able to make a request for the land, making the price for it go up (they would get the land when it would be avaliable, not when they would pay for it).
Ok so now we have the land – what now? Let’s build a house! From the same npc we could buy a house blueprint (different house types) which we would then use to actually build the house.
I have 2 ideas on how to build a house:
The easy way (for the developers) would be to talk with the npc and select the blueprint in your inventory. Then the npc will give you a list of materials you will need in order to build the house. When you would want to turn in some of the mats, you would jsut talk with the npc and select that option. The system would keep track on how many more mats you have to get in order to build the house. When entering your area while the house is still being constructed, you would see the construction zone with all the wood and random stone lying around and stuff like that.
The other (the one that would actually make it feel even better) would consist of players building their houses on their own.Using a system similar to the one in WvWvw, after buying a blueprint of a house, we would go on our land and use the blueprint wherever we would want to. This would create the construction zone with which we could interact. Instead of wvws “supplies” we could have different housing supplies which could be crafted by ourselves.
The mats needed to build a house would differ based on the type of the house.
SO BAM, now we have a house what now?
The npc would offer other types of blueprints. Let’s say – a barn-like place, where we could actually store our minis – which would summon then and make them wonder around the barn.
Another possibility would be a workstation, a haven for your ranger’s pets (so if you have a ranger, having this structure, would display all of your your tamed animals -account wide), a praying monument, different types of fences to get around your land, fountains, statues, ect…
Ok having covered the exterior, let’s move inside the house. This would make the current crafting way more interesting and fun to use. Players could craft their own shelves, chairs, tables, beds, paintings, vases, ect. and then put them inside their houses however they want.
The system could be extended even more by implementing a “farming” system, with which we could actually plant different type of seeds and in a few days gather the product.
2.) GUILD FUNCTIONS :
(TL;DR: Right now guilds are kind of useless and senseless. They serve mostly for social purouse. We need more interaction with the guild.)
-Suggestions:
More administration options (hate it that the invite function is linked to the rank-administrator function.)
Welcome message displayed in chat (or on screen) when a player logins or when someone changes it.
Other notifications in chat (when someone buys influence points for the guild, when someone reaches a certain amount of achievement points, when someone gets a precursor, when someone logins, ect)
Guild battles in PvE world (an actual war system)
More Guild bonuses (+ permanent bonuses)
Decreasing the max amount of guilds a player can be in
Option to see guild members on the map
Alliances
More missions
Maybe guild dungeons
