How come Risen Giants don't count?
Yea i thougt the risen ones counted too, until i noticed my achievement wasn’t moving up. I was pretty disappointed.
Soloing them is difficult but not impossible, just stand back range and be ready to dodge.
Because technically they count as risen, not as giants for the game.
However, I know what your intention is with this question.
GW2 desperately needs more monsters, and specially creatures, that if you kill them, count as “giant”.
It shouldn’t just be only “Giants” which in fact look to my like Cyclops’s
Beating World Bosses should also count as a giant kill,, not because of them being the race of a giant, but because of just their giant SIZE.
So if you kill with other pĆ¼layers for example the Shadow Behemoth, its kill count should count for the Giant Slayer Achievement.
But there are also other creatures, that need finaly to find their ways in back into the game (maybe under new designs, you know 250 years of evolution)
I want to see HYDRAS back in the game, giant 9 headed beasts that are bigger than say for example Oakhearts. More behemoths, creatures of giant size.
There could be so many options for monsters, that could count as giant kill, just by lettign it coutn as one, if the monster is of giant size….
Giant Wurms, Giant Slimes, Giant Sea Creatures (crabs ect.) and so on
Shouldn’t be so hard to add some more monsters into all of the maps per patches that are just of giant size.
If you killed a snake, gutted it and made it into a belt, you cant just wave it around and yell “look at the dangerous snake, its going to bite you muahaha!”. Its still a belt.
Risen giants are the same thing. Risen, not giants.

You’re missing the point. I’d like you to log on, check your “Slayer” Achievements and find out how many Giants you have killed from the moment you started playing.

Oh its 5, but I knew that achievement was broken long ago. Even if you count the amount of Risen Giants I killed into that, it’d be maybe 10. I wouldnt run around killing them just for mindnumbingly boring slayer achievement anyway.
More concerned about completely broken WvW achievements tbh.

The achievement is not “broken” as you say.
It is almost impossible to complete this achievement through casual play or even grinding.
I have 35 giant kills…. and have every other kill track maxed out…. and have gone out of the way on several occasions to get giant kills.
Getting 1,000 is simply out of the question.
Even if i killed a giant a day for a year….. it would still take me 2 years+
Incorporating giants into the thaumanova fractal in some way shape or form would have been a good idea….. but they missed the boat on that one.
It dawned on me after making the topic they didn’t count because they counted as Risen instead of Giants. I think the biggest problem is there needs to be more giants available that are veteran, rather than 99% of them being champs. Soloing isn’t always that hard, like someone said stay ranged and dodge, it just kills so much play time and ultimately isn’t worth it to spend nearly 10 minutes just to get one kill.
I think what bugs me the most is simply knowing that is one achievement that is simply never going to happen. Not because I’m unwilling to try for it, but because it would take just way too God awful long to complete.
