This has been brought up a couple times since launch. I’d love it. But then again at the current way the game is running who has time to fish.

I would like fishing too. There are so many pretty spots in the game that I mostly just run past. There is even a little pontoon in Queensdale (I think it is there) that would be the perfect fishing platform. I would like skinning/butchering as well. All those Moa carcasses going to waste…

And where’s my farming?(literal planting) I want my omnomberry plants.

While I would love to have fishing- there is a spot in Iron Marches where you can sort of fish- you have a rod, pull a big old branded fish out of the lake and stomp on it.

I would like to sit down at some nice spot, catch me a fish and make some sushi, preferably at my house ;P

I do not take off my clothes, just jump in with my spear or harpoon gun and got too it. People that are lazy and will just sit on the side of the water need to get more active.

Well we do have other activites not in any way related to character progression, so maybe some time in the future. Who knows?

Fishing would be awesome!!!!!! I’d like less FPS added, since the majority of the game is this. Let’s add in more fun and creative things for us to do.

Just asking for fishing isn’t very helpful imo. I’ve never played “that game whose name must not be mentioned” aka tgwnmnbm. So when you talk about fishing in tgwnmnbm, what exactly did you do and why was it fun? What did you do with the fish?

to be fair RunEscape was the first rpg i ever saw it in. The thing is theres no reason for it in GW not even crafting . I guess they could add some sort of mini game involving it but not as a main feature

It can be quite mindless and I think that is part of the draw. You can just unplug after a long day and do some fishing. No combat needed or anything too serious in thought. Granted you could do other things, but really fishing seems to only attract certain people. Some really hate, some love it for the same reasons. Definitely a different strokes sort of thing.

Usually fishing is tied into cooking somehow, but here I’m not sure how that would work. They’d literally have to rework cooking (or add to it…how/what reason do we have to level it to 500 in the future anyways? >.>).

But it really is some minigame in some way. Personally I prefer when they aren’t very intuitive and you just click to cast and click to retrieve. Instead of minigames per say like Torchlight where you line up the lines. I do think it needs some player input/interaction to not make it mindnumbing, but its definitely a more complicated area, because there is either too complicated controls, or too simple controls. Probably why Anet strayed away from it.

Even if it wasn’t added as a main feature but some kind of small mini-game, like the other dozen they haven’t finished. That no one is forced to participate in. /shrug

Because its boring? a better question is why do we have gathering?

Why, just today people opened like several topics on how they don’t have time to do all the content the devs are coming up with.

Well apart from the fact that people have been asking for fishing since launch, you can look at the resurface of this topic as a reaction to the fast pace of constant LS content- maybe people just want to smell the roses?

As for why fishing- we have all these amazing water areas teeming with fish- it seems like a no brainer to me.
I would like to tie it in to cooking because once again it seems really strange that you have all this fish and no seafood.
Fishing is kind of like housing and crafting stuff for your house I guess- it ties you into the world with out the constant need to gogogo killkillkill farmfarm etc.
Sometimes people just want to chill- it is not like the world isn’t awesomely beautiful

Why did you censor the name of the moa?

Fishing in real life is a lot of fun and relaxing. The Great out doors, the peace and quiet, the smell of fresh air, seeing the animals of nature going about their daily lives.

Fishing in a game….. none of that, and extremely boring.

It is illegal to reveal the names of those you get on camera or video without their permission. Looks like the Moa didn’t fill out the forms needed to reveal his name. But at least he allowed his face to be there instead of that being blurred out

Thank you. Guess who asked for it along with a long long list of other ui elements and features essential to most long term mmo’s. (raises hand) yep. In fact I’m goingt go get the links to my posts right now.

It’s no secret that what makes people come to a game are activities with rewards so in that spirit I asked for things that would improve the game months ago. Never got a response… Incidently, if they put these items into the game it would most likely distract people from the grind and other negative aspects of the game right now because we’d all be busy doing these things.

I went back! The pole is still there (it’s in the water not far from that spot). So, we have a pole, we have fish… we just need some handy dandy game mechanics.

I suggest Rift or WoW for fishing.

OK, maybe fishing.. Although, I’m with Seven Star….ye gods, the scariness of catching a karka. Just ow.

The only issue with that, is as someone else already called for, leading to other ‘gathering’ such as skinning. How do multiple players skin the same animal? Considering how shared looting and gathering works in this game.

Beyond that, I don’t want this game to turn into other MMO clones… Start with fishing, next comes skinning, well now how about farming…we’ll start with animals, then we’ll get into actually planting crops, next up we’ll add running your own shop. Ugh stop, no just no. This is not WoW. This is not FarmVille, or PioneerVille, or FarmVille 2! If I wanted to do those things, I would go play those games.

I understand that people like those things. That they desire to do those things. However, this is not that game. Please stop trying to make it that game. Please go play said multitude of other games that offer those features, instead of or in conjunction with this one. Then all your “i want to do ‘x’” itches get a good scratch.

Why does it need fishing? It does not.

You know you’re bored of the game when…. You find yourself in Orgrimmar fishing. In GW2 case it will be LA.

I stopped playing the game, when I realized what I was doing.

+1 for fishing. I think they should have a Mastercraft Hylek fishing pole and put a rare spawn Giant Sewer Rat mini in the sewers under DR. Fishing in the beautiful world of GW2 would be sheer bliss.

yeah mounts! really any speed increase, i say take the steam-punk route and make jetpacks…. so you can hover around (not necessarily fly, as that will defeat some of the challenges of map completion and jumping puzzles).

Fishing – no.
Top it off, I wish there were areas with denser resources… take for examples ALL those trees you walk past while on route… yet for some reason you can only chop down that one that’s randomly placed and doesn’t really look like a normal(environment) tree. (way too much to ask though) Or if there’s a farm, make the veggies dense, and being able to kill/collect cows for meat….

Actually if you kill cows, they do sometimes drop slabs of beef….
