Hello community and ArenaNet team! I’d like to apologise You in advance for my poor english. It’s not my native but i always try my best

I’d like to show You my idea for improving The Shatterer fight. Fight isn’t bad, but additional spells and phases would be cool and it might make this dragon considerably more difficult.

I was thinking about it for some time and i think my ideas are cool. So basicly i’d add one additional phase and two spells. Also i’d change one little thing

So let me describe what i have in my mind

At some point in the fight, The Shatterer will jump to the place where the cannons are placed and crush them to the ground. After destroying cannons from 2 spots he will return to his „normal” place and summon CRYSTAL WALL. Behind this wall Shatterer will start to heal himself.

Then the phase begins. We will have to protect enginers while they are repairing the cannons…but it won’t be so easy. Depending on the amount of ppl in the area, dragon will spawn his minions. So basicly if there are small amount of ppl Dragon will spawn 4 Veteran status minions, otherwise he will spawn 2 minions with Champion status.

Players will have to kill them fast, cuz boss will heal himself (1% life per 15 seconds). Engineers will repair cannons for 12.5% of cannons life per 15 seconds.

FIRST ADDITIONAL SPELL

Crystal Wall – Makes boss invulnerable to all kinds of dmg. Also wall has very very very high resistance to the players attacks (like doors in WvWvW) it can be destroyed fast by using cannons.

Minions spells

Minion phase 1

It’s simple as the other fights in GW2

PULL THEM BACK – Minion pulls enginer and starts to nuke him.(knocback will interupt it)
Whirlwind – simple spell that everybody knows how it looks and works
Pummel – stuns the target

Minion phase 2

In this phase, minion will cast spell named „Sacrifice”

Sacrifice – when the minion reaches 20% of his life, he starts run to the boss. He runs 30% faster (so cripple will be nice). When he reach him he heals BOSS for 5% of Shatterers life if the add is Veteran status and 10% if the add is a Champion.

While Sacrifice players will have to nuke down the add as fast as possible, but it will not be easy.

Do NOT TOUCH ME! - Minion will knock back targets from melee range and blinds ranged dps for 5 seconds, also he becomes invulnerable to dmg attacks for 3 seconds (only knock back and pull works, you know, for instance the 5th spell from Guardian’s Greatsword tier)

After cannons are fixed players take down the wall(it would take approximately 4 shots from the cannons) and the normal fight starts again.

THE SHATTERER ADDITIONAL SECOND SPELL

Crystal Storm – Dragon spawns several crystal storms. crystal storm does dmg (matter of balance how much it would take).
If the player is inside the crystal storm he becomes weakened.
If the minion is inside the crystal storm it gains might and healing condition.

If there are no ppl in the main battle area, Shatterer spawns crystal strom on cannons

THE CHANGE

If minions are close to the boss, they gain might and vitality buff. Ppl will have to split their forces into two. Ppl who „tank” minions and ppl who kills „toe”

That’s it. Please, tell me what do You, community, think about this idea.

Also i have some ideas how to improve Tequatl and some other bosses, also i have tons of ideas for new content like DE’s, dungeons, boss fights etc. If u want to hear (read) them just tell me and i’ll post them here.

Word to ArenaNet. I love your game, but some fights could be more complex, players aren’t dumb, even if there is no structured raiding in GW2. Also i’m aware of budget and technical limitations, but this game deserves more „epic” fights. I hope You will not get my words as an insult or sth, same as You i want this game to be the best on the market!

Buddy, this is what I was complaining ever since the Beta. I really need more depth and complexity here. ANet should SERIOUSLY focus on giving us a run for our money.

Inb4 “Go to the explorer mode dungeon then u will see hard fights”, I know these are hard, but i’d like to see more complexity in the world outdoor bosses fights. Also in the future i’ll write my ideas about new dungeons etc. I hope You will like them cuz i have great fun designing them from the “fight and story point of view”. Visuals etc are for ANet artists, my 3D skills are less than medium

Awesome!
At first sight it’s look similar to Claw of Jormag (with wall and flying every x%) but with new spells and phases sound great. Now fight with this dragon is like walking in park… too easy. Just pressing keys from 1 to 8 (or only 1 if you’re lazy ;p). Summoning crystal is not enough.
But tbh I don’t think so that ANet will use any of gamers ideas :/ GW2 still have some annoying bugs and problems but I hope that some days fight with Shatterer will looks similar too your vision.

I would like to have a chance at failing a big DE. I played them all many times now, not once (even in the first 48 hours of release with noobs/undergeared/underleveled players) did I feel even once the fight wasnt going our way. Make the Shadow Behemoth summon 1 minion for every player in the swamp and double their damage and half their hp, add another portal for every 5 players. Make red circles smaller, but 1 shots, but less often. Same thing with his shatterer suggestions. The only fight ive done with a shred of organization required is jormags tooth, but even then once you get everyone to down adds in between phases it seems like a fight that you just wait for loot.

Maybe Arenanet could implement some kind of enrage timer. After some period of time the boss would decimate all npcs and players in the area…but i think it is not a good thing. World boss is hard to fail, since u can respawn at the travel point. The key should be the time, how long we fight with the boss and how complex and how fun the boss mechanics are

I have nice idea for shadow behemoth, but i’ll write it tommorow, stay tuned.

actually it is a very good idea, because ppl will have to depend on group not only on themselves it will make the fight more epic, u know bunch of heroes trying to take down a big dragon and everyone has to be careful, because if he fails the whole group will fail also:)

Hmm, interesting topic ~ though yours focuses more on the “spells” and abilities the Shatter Dragon goes through.. I’d recommend a topic I created on the evolution of DE’s like his.. making the game more fun and a bit more challenging

Yes indeed i focused only on that particular encounter, cuz i felt, events like this, with big kitten bosses should be more…deep and interesting. Also i like ideas in Your thread, but for now i want to focus myself only on some boss fights, dungeons and new events that i’d like to add or tweak ingame.

Your ideas require more like…revolution in the event system and that would be hard to implement at this point, it is rather an idea for future content. I want to focus on stuff we have now ingame and my ideas are some kind of tweaks that are easy to implement. Also i have some ideas for the new content (dungeons, events, boss fights etc) and i will post them soon, so stay tuned

Some of the values you mentioned are a bit high, like 1% per minion getting to the shatterer? But overall nice mechanics. He does need a buff instead of just dodging to resume hacking and slashing his feet as well as some sort of minions attacking the mortar and cannons. Also would be nice if he moved around and not just fly up for a couple of seconds releasing a few shards.

Perhaps, the entire fight could be about keeping the cannons and mortars alive while people on the ground have to put enough dmg out to keep the dragon at bay from destroying the cannons. This would make for risky ground troop behavior and therefore make a harder dragon

%s would make encounter little bit harder and stresful. Also sometimes it would prevent from killing boss in 3 minutes if players are “bad”…i mean if they couldn’t handle the situation. Also my idea would force players to use cripples, konckbacks, pulls etc

Also was thinking about adding flying phase, but dunno what should he do while flying…dropping crystals? Maybe. I left flying phase for Tequatl the Sunless

He can just fly up and smash stuff so this is not the solution i guess.
