I was a little bit disappointed by the Zhaitan battle, and I’m hoping that perhaps the design team will find the time to give this battle a bit of an overhaul, to do Zhaitan more justice. So perhaps this is a good topic to place suggestions on how we would like to see this battle be changed?

  • Make Zhaitan attack multiple sides of the airship, instead of staying on one side.
  • Don’t cut to a cut scene for the majority of the cinematics during the battle, or take control away from the player. Show us what happens in real time, like with Claw of Jormaq. (This may be impossible due to technical/scripting problems, but I would love to see this)
  • Make Zhaitan attack the airship with a breath weapon. Currently he just sits on a pillar and does nothing. It would be nice if the players were forced to move around.
  • Allow multiple canons to actually target and hit Zhaitan. Since he stays in one place, only two canons are able to hit him.
  • Make Zhaitan spawn more powerful mobs of enemies, and more of them. He currently spawns really weak immobile opponents.
  • Mix up the battle by adding different sequences. See, Claw of Jormaq. A battle should be more than doing the same thing over and over again. Maybe have him fly off, and players having to aim for his wings with the canons to force him to land. Or have him drop pods on the ship that must be destroyed.
  • Allow the players to fire the final weapon themselves, and make them do something to power it up. It is way more satisfying to fire it yourself, than to see some npc fire it.
  • Have Zhaitan land on the ship, or get much closer. He’s just not frightening if he’s always at a distance.
  • Involve forces of the chosen order in the battle. Let there be Priory troops onboard the airship if you chose the Priory.

If you ask me the Zhaitan encounter was made like 4 hours before launch, I’m not even kidding. The airship is a disaster, more cut scenes than Heavy Rain, and the fight 1111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111

Lame loot, beat the game, Cursed Shore is still Cursed Shore.

epic suggestions, the entire battle was rather anticlimatic and dull. when i ’’killed’’ Zhaitan and he fell to his ’’doom’’ (seriously? he fell?) i was like ‘’WTF O_o thats it!’‘. The final boss of the game (currently) and supposedly the largest of the elder dragons ( he rased a peninsula when he rose) died on the account of a firework that barely did anything to him worthwhile.
Id like to suggest something else on the account of my rant: When you knock him out of his tower make him latch on the ship for a final quick battle witch you can follow up with a laser in the face ( we got that huge kitten cannon dont we >_>)
Just as well i know its a big ship and all but i dont understand why would a great elder dragon like Zhaitan stand still and wait till we drill him full of holes, the same goes for the ship. Its a ’’action’’ type game and standing in place and mashing a ’’2’’ is VERY dull after 2 mins
However i disagree with the priory people on top of the ship, they were useless for the most part of the stories it wont change now, they will only get in the way

Of course, it’s an online game so no place will change after you beat the boss.

how to improve zhaitan:

watch this video, see how fighting a giant monster while inside an airship should feel like, take notes, redo the battle from scratch.

notice how he’s always visible, a clear threat, without standing still. notice how you have to actively aim and gather ammo to fire at him. it’s hard to see in the videos, but notice how it’s the players that activate ropes that tether him to the ship, allowing for some easy free damage, and how it’s the players that have to time the giant spear of death to deal massive damage.

notice how the players actually CAN take damage during the fight, while fighting the main enemy itself, and how that main enemy is attacking, not just sending minions or summoning insta-death giant rings.

watched that video and it made me think of another suggestion. Dont make us have to press F to get out of cannons etc. Let us have the ability to dodge out of them if a missle is heading for it etc.

OP I doubt they will change it. But I aree with you since the end battle is just insanely boring considering what the fight is.

I found the open world dragon fights to be much more interesting than the dungeon/personal story ones. The first reason is the cutscenes; they make the player feel detached from what’s actually going on. As for mechanics, it would be nice if he did a little more than stare at you while you poke him to death with those annoying cannons. “If you would like to kill Zhaitan, please press 2”.
