How to make PVE more fun
Indeed, I really miss missions!
If it’s instanced missions you want why not go and do some story quests with your guild? As far as i know this is content that is readily available, and there is nothing preventing you from running it with a group, as far as i know ‘events’ in these story quests also scale to reflect the amount of people in the instance, and they also have scaling implemented, so everybody in the guild (regardless of level) can join in, while story rewards are for the person the story belongs to, the people in the group are still rewarded for their contributions, atleast the kills/drops (though i am not entirely sure if they get a XP/Karma reward at the end of the story step)

Story quests can only be done if the player hasnt done it yet. Once its been done, its no longer repeatable. Unless its a functionality that i have missed.
Also, no, only the player whom the story belongs to, gets the xp/karma/loot. Speaking of loot, in most cases, loot is pretty rare to come by while in a story mission. I would also like to mention that most story quests are pretty shallow and not very fun if you have already done it once. Its only entertaining if you havent done it and really like the lore/story of the game. They usually offer nothing impressive that you cannot get from just going into the open world.
The implementation of missions from GW1 would offer endless possibilities and more complex levels to a group of players. In other words…a more tailored experienced. I’ve always found DE’s to be pretty bland because of their inherent purpose, they must cater to everyone who is inside the world, all the while also living inside the world. So they just end up being generic.
I haven’t played GW1 so I don’t know about the Missions, but the comment on grouping is spot on. I play with my wife on my main toon, and a group of 2 is vastly different from when I play a solo alt. And when I try to group so that we can just keep playing with less down time (MUCH less down time then previous MMO’s, but still way more then when there is a group) no one is interested. And sure, I run into an area where I am killing stuff, and someone else come in, and I kill stuff with this stranger, but then I attack a mob, and they other player, having finished his heart or whatever, is gone, and I started a fight I can’t win. It is not as reliable as a group working together.
I don’t know the fix, but something needs to make groups more worthwhile. Maybe a new type of currency earned when in a group, to buy a non-essential thing?

who says grouping is more fun :s
But still I’m a bit dissapointed with DEs, it was advertised as something a little more complex…but I think this is the best they could do.
