Given Asurans arnt exactly Myans but how about an I survived an Asuran mega disaster instead with the Krytan calenders equivalent

I thought the Hyleks were the mayan/aztecs of Tyria.

Hylek are tribal but not Mayan . Asuran would fit well however do to the architectural similarities and environment

Except their names are based on Nahuatl, which is an Uto-Aztecan language. So perhaps they’re more aztecan than mayan.
They even sacrifice their champions to the sun god to earn protection from the Risen.
