I want a class change.
No way in hell.
I would agree for race changes but class changes nop, never, want another character reroll.
Honestly, I can’t think of a single game off the top of my head with a paid class change. I can’t see this one being the first to implement it, either.
I agree. Since we dont have the patience to level another character to level 80 though, they should simply allow our new character to be instant level 80(much easier) rather than class changing another character(harder to implement). Also since we can all agree we want max gears and legendary weapons but dont have the patience for it, we should have those instantly as soon as we buy the game too.
Right?
No way class change should be allowed. If you can’t wait for another character to get to LVL80, just pay a fortune to craft.
And you can be instant 80 in sPvP on any class if you just want some variety.
So even when you get to level 80 you guys dont think we should be able to change at least once. Its not getting to level 80 that i dont want to do again its grinding through the areas that i would hate.

No, this game is too easy already.
Then, as sugested before, you can easily develop your character through craft. 8 completed professions = 80 lvl achieved.
Class change as a temporary thing; like an hour long consumable wouldn’ be so bad if it had a long “coolin’ off” period, like 24 hours, where ya couldn’ use another one until the time passed. (that way people couldn’ jus’ buy a ton of em an’ change character permanently) That’d be a nifty sorta toy ta play with.
I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.
I think class change maybe too much with too little return for the developers.
If you change your class all your gear is probably going to have to be replaced. That along with losing all your farmed dungeon skins may make this a feature very few purchase which will prohibit the investment in programming such a feature.
Dont be stupid and say you would never re-role again, you would becouse of the story and the fact that you would have to pay like 800 gems to change your class!
Lol @ story, even Super Mario Bro’s story was more intuative in it’s time then the one in GW2 is right now, so that’s not something speaking for rerolling a new character.
However class-change would be the most stupid thing ever, because of the l2p factor, i don’t want to be suddenly in a lvl80 dungeon with someone who has never played his class before.
You don’t have the patience and you are playing an MMO? You are playing the wrong genre of video game my friend.
all i want is to be able to turn my main from an engineer to a thief and not have to spend 300 hours get the map done again. Is that so much to ask for for 800 gems.
Everquest 2 did have a sort of class change option. If you betrayed from good to evil or vice versa you had the option to choose the other class within your archetype, so warlock could choose wizard etc. It involved a long quest and the penalities were fairly hard.
That’s as close as I can recall. In GW2 it would probably be quicker to reroll than to do the eq2 betrayal quest :-)
seriously?
Just dump like 15+ g from your main char and do most of your leveling up via crafting if you’re so lazy…you can do it in a day even. This game has very little leveling grind already, everything gives exp…
Never gonna happen.

Yes

Well in DDO you can reincarnate to a different class but you started at level 1 or 4 or something like that, you can earn the stuff to do it in game or purchase it from cash shop

NO!
THis game has very little meaning when it comes to characters. If you want to so badly, delete the guy you don’t want and remake as a character. Just put your money and any un-soulbound items into the bank and re-roll.
Congrats, you just changed your class/race or both.
They advertised it as if every class can assume any types of roles; but in reality some classes are simply much better at certain roles than others. @ OP’s comment – it’s a long shot that they’ll actually do that, although I think your request is very understandable (I had to lvl up 2 other characters aside from my main [lvl 80 mesmer] just because my Mesmer couldn’t support as good in a dungeon or do conditional damage well [bleeds and such]).
In summary, people who plays this game for it’s combat system… they won’t last in this game very long; while those players who play GW2 for its contents, achievements, legendary item hunting, etc… those are the same people saying ‘no’ to this topic.

Well, Lineage 2 had a not payed (but level reseting) class change if I remember correctly.
I think if they implement new professions that we would like for our mains, but we don’t want to forget the hours of story and efforts on that character, a viable solution would be allowing for class changes but reseting your level (and you can switch to your other classes with the level you had, but paying a bit, like with crafting professions).
This way you need to reroll the class but not the character.
And unlike GW1, models are shared between races, not professions, so it wouldn’t be a problem at all.
And to who proposed race changes instead… was that trolling? now that would be a bigger nosense! Specially because your bio wouldn’t make any sense at all. Race re-roll would require full character re-roll (or the same: just start a new character).
You do realize you dont NEED to have 100% map done?
Also, u want class changing? go play Final Fantasy 11 or 14
I want a pink bicycle with glittery stuff on the handle bars and pretty flower shaped training wheels! But I’m not trying to spend any money on it!
I want Verizon to bring back Unlimited Data Plan! I would leave them, but don’t want to change my phone number or contacts!
I want flying cars! Wish those scientists would hurry up and research it already!
I want a fast computer, but I’m broke!
Those are all examples of “I Want”. Go use some of the time it took you to post to level a new character.
Brinkmcthrnbody Ive started this game again three times becouse i got fed up of the class i was. Each time i did the same areas over and over. All i want is to change my main to a thief and not have to grind through all of the areas again. Their is realy no harm in being able to change your character class once when your level 80!
Believe it or not Guild Wars fans there are people who loath the PvE in this game who will quit rather then reroll. I can barely stand rerolling and it almost made me quit.
That said, I don’t care one way or the other about class changes. It does work in other games (SWG), that doesn’t mean it belongs in this game though.
We are not friends.
i personally do not think class change should be inplimented at all sorry but no one should get a lvl 80 right of the bat.
When you think about it in reality you class change get all the new skill but you learn a class while levleing not at full level.
Personally i started a ranger got it to level 80 and then did a engineer from the start cause i i wanted a change hence why you have extra char slots.
Sorry if you dont like my thoughts on the subject but it is how i feel.
“Believe it or not Guild Wars fans there are people who loath the PvE in this game who will quit rather then reroll. I can barely stand rerolling and it almost made me quit.”
So you don’t like PvE, which means you like PvP, which means you’re instantly 80, which means I don’t understand the beef about creating another character for PvP.
I agree leveling is too slow. Makes me avoid playing alts. Its so boring to solo level and it takes forever in this game. If I could somehow quickly get to evel 35 where I can run dungeons then this game would be much much better,
It blows me away people think the leveling is slow in this game.
Flavor of the month classes ruin enough MMOs without the ability to change classes. If you let people do this you’d end up with the entire server running around as whatever the most broken/op class for that patch is.
No thanks.
I am in complete favor of this feature if it was not cost prohibitive. If ANet could make a large profit for adding this feature I would be more than happy to support it because it would mean more game development for everyone has a whole.
I have no personal reason to restrict such a feature.

it’s called Guild Wars 1
@Cosmos Honest suggestion, maybe play WvW on your thief? As soon as you get out of tutorial area at level 2, just play WvW to level. Nothing wrong with that.
I did that a lot on my now lvl 80 ranger. Which is why I only have 30% map completion.

Secondary class only, not primary.
OP There is a way to get an instant lvl 80 of another class that can be bought with money: Roll desired class, got to LA, and power level through crafting to 80. If you need gold buy it with gems.
Convert your gems to gold and use the gold to level up professions. That’s probably the best you can do.
Classes do not exist in this game, therefore a class change would be impossible.
GW1 had the tradition of players with a lot of alts. GW2 continues this by having a very fast leveling process, and a low plateau for exotic gear. You can do it in one day without even leaving town. Not to mention instant-80 with full gear and traits for pvp.
How about they just fix the classes and make the traits work the way they say they’re supposed to and give us some balance?
Class changing would be a nightmare. Imagine all the FOTM every patch? OMG They nerfed ranger and buffed mesmer. I’m class changing to mesmer cuz they’re OP. Then next patch they switch to somethin’ else. No thanks.
Already too many warriors as it is, don’t wana walk thru lions arch and see more greatswords and heavy armor blocking my views
In most of other MMOs class reroling is really wrong thing, because in them player reveals his class mechanics and abilities level-than-level. For example, in WoW if you want to know how feels playing mage, you need to create and rise to levelcap your own mage. It’s part of game content, and player needs to reveal it, if wants to explore it. But in GW2 you can just create character of any profession, go to Mists and learn all abou how it works. So, maybe there it could be not very mistakenly. Anyway, developers will never aprove it. Because interest to grow new character in PvE makes people stay in game longer.
