Idea to deal with Bots
to actually let the players kill bots…. zomg that sounds so fun.
Hmm. I dislike this idea a lot I’m sorry to say. It’s basically like Captcha with a fight when you think about it.
First of all let’s look at it this way:
You go up to a person, ask to duel, then if they lose a number of times, you’re banned.
What if the person is AFK and people want to abuse the system.
20 seconds for 3 questions are too short I believe.
Also we’ve been dealing with bots, by reporting them and so. I don’t want to waste time fighting bots all day to play the game. I’m not here to do that.
No offense to you OP, while you come with an idea that seems good it’s really just a burden and can be easily abused.
(New Feature)Zone Event: A GM comes on and makes identified bots attackable. Players have to kill all the bots in the area that have been identified and a random yellow drops from a bot. Once dead they go to ban heaven.
I’d have created a thread myself, but I don’t think they’d like this section to be full of threads on how to deal with the bots.
Allowing players to deal with bots has been suggested time and again, and each time it has (and will continue to) boiled down to the very same issue: abuse. As much as you may want to believe otherwise, players will be kitten if given the means to do so.

@Rise: i take no offense. i honestly didn’t think about abuse when i submitted the idea. you make valid points.
perhaps i can put a few ideas to combat abuse to this as well.
1. Towns and bases as safe points to this feature: Such a duel can’t be submitted in towns and bases.
2. When a character is inactive for a certain amount of time, again, it becomes impossible to challenge them.
The idea here is that a bot would never be in a town and when it is out of town it’s always active. players who are afk in “unsafe” areas wouldn’t be on the move so this basically reduces the chance of abuse.
also, after thinking it over, auto banning is indeed a foolish idea. so maybe keep the stuff on bots. the players can still report them, but they have the option to take care of the issue themselves if they want to, it’s entirely up to them.
Wasn’t aware that something like this was suggested before (didn’t pop up on the search ) Sorry if this was already explained, as i said, i’m not very bright with things like this lol.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t reduce abuse. There will always be that player who sees someone AFK and says, “let’s report them as a bot and have some fun.” ANet then has to deal with the resulting mess and ban someone that would have, otherwise, been a decent player had they just not been handed the tools.
As it stands, the way bots are being dealt with now is satisfactory. All it requires is ANet upholding their side of the deal, so to speak, and they are honestly trying.
the problem with killing bots is they’re probably a lot tougher than you. Also there’s a good chance they;re Chinese. Ive been in games where folks started killing gold bots and the Chinese took offense as a country. They wiped every other player who wasnt shinese out fo the game. Totally. The game needless to say died Shadowrun maybe or something like that. It was an early all pvp game
Botting is going to destroy this game though in frostforge sound the bots outnumber players 2 to 1.
I hope the devs make their cash off this game quick to keep their company solvent, because as things stand now the game is going to be gone in 6 months imho.

ANet had a strong first month, and they look to have a strong second month. GW2 is not subscription-based. What are you basing this claim off of? Have you seen numbers that the rest of us are not privy to? Frankly, I’m baffled by such constant, hyperbolic assumptions.
