First of all, if you want to laugh at “lame exploiters” who reached scale 80 or just want to rage at Anet then please do that in the other topics.

The core issue is that lots of people have put effort in Fractals to access higher scale with higher challenges/rewards. In other words, people have grinded to reach something. The incoming patch is going to reset everyone over scale 30 to scale 30. If you look at the big picture it is not fair that people have put some effort (scale 30-40) are getting same treatment as people have put bit more (scale 40-50) or a lot more effort (scale 70-80 or 40-50 with multiple characters).

The reset is needed because of the new leaderboard. It would be stupid if lots of people were already on the top without even playing (not to mention being able to beat) the content.
However this can easily be by-passed with making the leaderboard based on the highest scale completed. This would allow keeping access to higher/maximum scale without messing up the leaderboard.

Personally I think people should be able to keep their scale because they have already grinded for it. They have already completed the time gating and should be able to continue where they left if they can also beat the skill/gear gating. They could also tweak it a bit like halve everyone’s scale but I don’t think that would really achieve anything (except make people angry like now).

Another option is to compensate for our loss of effort. There’s probably some mixed feelings what actually would be appropriate. People with access to scale 70+ would probably appreciate an unique reward (like title, minipet, special skin, etc) where as people with multiple alts might like to see gold/additional daily chests.
Personally I don’t think reaching scale 70+ should give anything superb because it actually wasn’t fully supported content. Something simple (and easy to add) like a title would be sufficient. That way people like me would be able to keep the prestige for reaching the maximum scale.

Personally, I’d say copy the current fractal level to some value on their character sheet. Call it Legendary Fractal and paste their number there. Doesn’t count or do anything anymore. Gratz you got to fractal whatever. Can’t link it nor show up anyplace but hey you get to keep your number. Then set everyone back to 1 and everyone starts over from scratch. The ones that claim their so awesome because of how high they were. I’m sure they’ll be able to rise again. And well if not then it’s probably because they were exploiting and not because they actually had any skills. If they do have the skill they’ll have no problem getting back up there. If they say it’s not worth their time to do it again. Well that’s fine I’m sure they’ll find something else to do in this game or another.

If the content is truly hard then I don’t mind rising. But if it is going to be similar what we already have then it will be just pointless grind.

Fractal Veteran title to anyone that gets reset to 30.

The title should be “I got screwed by Anet and all I got was this lousy title” huehue
But in all fairness..what if you enjoyed doing 79 for example more than once? Not just getting there but actively doing it from time to time just to practice your dodging or whatever. I feel the issue is not the 0 compensation but locking those levels out of reach forever. Or maybe until the next fractal reset if this becomes a thing.
