I am not into farming pve again to make even more maxed gear, so that I can finally do what I actually want to do and play WvW.
So you want to farm new ascended gear for your WvW characters and destroy all of your useless exotic equipment? Do you play WvW?
Totally agree with pregnable. Most of my guildmates just want to do WvW. In WvW, you just can get 1 set of ugly look defensive armor (same for weapons). So if you something better you have to go PvE.
Now they plan to put some more powerful stuff in PvE, without changing anything in WvW? What’s wrong? I really wonder if ANet wonders about WvW players. Everyone is getting bored about these tiny zones and moreover if we have to go get some stuff in PvE once again, every mass PvP lover will try another game.
I agree with disabling Ascended Gear for WvW.
Ascended Gear, as well as the announced item progression, cuts of casual gamers and working/Studying people from competitive WvW.
Unless you don’t/can’t >waste< your time to grind this gear each month, you’re cut of the endgame content.
The kind of endgame content which was announced to be grind-free, standing above all other MMOs.
Ascended Gear-progression disables WvW for us.

If ascended gear is actually going into the game, let WvW use pvp gear.
This way we do not have to farm new gear every time a new tier is added or when a major balance change is made.
But then why would people want to stay and play the game?

100% completion alts dyes looking good guild halls (which they should dedicate more time to – Star Base construction lead to 5+ months of grinding from close to all fleets in STO) spvp wvw if they made it have more impact titles rare drops multiple legendaries etc etc etc.
The easiest solution is:
do not introduce ascended items!
I also don’t want another item race á la every other MMO just to be able to compete in WvW. I really hope the new tiers of gear are prevented from being worn in WvW!

I’ve managed to solo Camps on Fine-quality gear (2 pieces were Masterwork) (level 79 gear if you care about the fine details, chosen for Basic Transmutation). I bought a lot of exotics just yesterday, intended to be the final stats I would ever have to buy, so the announcement bugs me just a little. But the presence of Ascended gear is clearly not going to negatively affect me if I was handling my roles just fine before even reaching Exotic.
On the other hand, I’ve avoided sPvP greatly because of it interesting me less, so forcing PvP gear in WvW would upset me because I want to admire my aesthetics, I want to admire my allies aesthetics, and I want to admire my enemy’s aesthetics (I hope for some refinements on the mechanics around that last one). I have nothing interesting in PvP, and don’t want to be forced to spend time there while nullifying time I already invested.
I also don’t want another item race á la every other MMO just to be able to compete in WvW. I really hope the new tiers of gear are prevented from being worn in WvW!
Then there would be a lot more people complaining about lack of room in their inventory for multiple gear sets. Especially the people who have a legendary, since they have to chose between statting it for PvE, or statting it for WvW.

Finally, since combat is such a core part of the gameplay of any MMO, we’ve put a lot of emphasis into rethinking combat. So much of traditional MMO combat is rote and repetitive. You execute the same strategy over and over again, just augmented over time with better and better gear. After a while it starts to feel like you’re playing a spreadsheet. Combat needs to be about making creative choices, and it needs to feel immediate, active, and visceral.

I wouldn’t mind if WvW used PvP gear.
It would be a bit confusing, but I would also agree with having PvE gear affect combat against monster NPCs, and PvP gear combat against players and defender NPCs.
Hell, I’ve been saying this since beta. Even if Ascended DOESN’T stay, make WvW use PvP gear. It’s the most fun PvP I’ve ever experienced in an MMO, which is high praise from a non-PvPer, but being worried about it hitting my PvE armor and, by extension, wallet is a strong inducement to stay away.
