Go bananas.

Here are mine:

1. Remove leveling entirely! Leave the experience bar that gives you skill points every time it dings.

2. Allow bosses to be defeated in more than one way. Drilling their HP down to zero is old. Let us use the environment to our advantage! (Warning: WoW reference here) I LOVED the Karazhan chess event because it was TOTALLY different.

3. Remove gold as a currency (uh oh gold farmers!). I think kharma is a totally cool idea to obtain things from vendors. If we want to trade items, give us a system that lets us trade items for items only.

“We just don’t want players to grind in GW2” – C. Johanson
“The most important thing in any game should be the player” – R. Soesbee

It’s not really very important as far as the game play goes, but I would most like to see every cutscene in the game reworked into a proper, cinematic experience, a la SWTOR. That’s something I think would go a long way towards making the personal stories, much more immersive experiences. Lackluster plotlines and uninspired voice work would be a lot more forgivable if that were the case.

If I had to choose, my one thing would be a pretty massive, comprehensive one thing…

The core of it would be facilitating robust character customization. I would completely change the way that’s currently being handled. It would radically impact the crafting system, but would alter many other aspects of the game as well.

  • Most crafting professions would no longer create multiple variations of the same item. Instead, they’d primarily craft item skins, item enhancements and consumables.
  • Item drops would be given default skins, becoming almost entirely generic in appearance. Items dropping with upgrades already on them would be extremely rare or completely non-existent.
  • Cultural skins would be craftable by members of that culture (the current inability to do this is very irksome to me). Vendors of cultural armor and weapons would only sell recipes, or go away entirely.
  • Dungeons would become sources of exclusive skin recipes and with a great deal more variety than what is currently represented by their related armor and weapon sets.
  • The ability to change one’s hairstyle would be implemented, and I’d add hair dyes. I’d probably make hairstyles craftable by Jewelers, thereby expanding their scope.
  • I’d also make Jewelers tattooists, and maybe throw in some consumables for them to craft as well (perfumes, oils). To reflect this broader focus, I’d rename the profession to Artisan.
  • I would split dye recipes over Artisans and Cooks (and make most of them not so materials intensive). I favor the idea of soulbound dyes, but I think they should be pretty easy to obtain. To keep trade brisk and crafters making a profit, collecting dyes would unlock other dyes. I’d also investigate the feasibility of different dye finishes.
  • I would add ‘wardrobe’ storage to all characters, expandable thru gem purchase.
  • I would add a great deal of town clothing, some of it craftable, some of it only available through the store, and enable the option to keep it on even after suffering fall damage.
  • Armor appearance would not be locked to armor type in PvE (if a Guardian wants to look like a Mesmer, let ’em).
  • Body/face adjustment available thru gem store (cheap).
  • A basic palette for undergarments.

…off the top of my head. >.>
