Im Bored, GW2 need improvments...
Your idea for “improvements” is the exact opposite of Anet’s stated philosophy. This is not the MMO for you.
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.

this ‘philosophy’ is also driving away alot of people, because they have nothing to aim for at 80. sadly.
There are other games out there that already do what you want.

this ‘philosophy’ is also driving away alot of people, because they have nothing to aim for at 80. sadly.
But in the end, because of their more open philosophy when it comes to their game, they’ve reigned in more players than they’ve lost because they don’t discriminate between people who can play 24/7 and people who can’t play 24/7.
Well the reason why I play WvW is for the fun, I just like to participate in Awesome keep fights or just roam in a small group taking out straglers/loners, supply camps, sentrys
well it might be because I am on StormBluff Isle and the WvW community is bigger
for PvP, well I didn’t play loads of it, but the few matches I played gave me a TF2 feel, join in when you want play a few matches etc, for me there shouldn’t be a glory system, but it’s a nice extra.
Dungeons, the armor is a nice enough reward for me, but the challenge and the fun I have with the guild is the major reason I do them
this can all seem strange to alot of players but I haven’t played loads of mmorpgs, the only one that came close was the online Co-op Rpg Guild Wars and sa non-traditional F2P game wich was heavily (commical) story based
I am against the stuff rewards (others than cosmetic). There are others games, for that.
Philosophy of ANet is about “no grinding game”. My suggestions is not about grinding, it’s about improvment so that i will be logging into the game with a specific goal to do with my friends and guild mates. I am a member of 3 guilds and there is no active players, because this game is boring (great potential) but boring at for now. Everything what you need, you can buy at BLTC, there is no challenge for me, no motivated…WvW have great potencial, nice ideas, but no purpose, for me it’s fight for carrot for now, stupid scores at which get nothing. Kill to the kill…boring, i want something for killing a player, in GW1 you earn faction points and is was very good, motivate me to gain more points because i can exchange it for skills etc.
- WvW make for peaple who like gear progresion as a reward for killing player and claiming keep’s.
this is also against Anet’s policy for the game, they don’t want a gear treadmill in the game, whether pvp or pve, because they dont want to give advantages to those people who have more time or money or whatever.

For two weeks you will have fifteen different armor look’s and you will be doing the pictures, showing people what a great model you are….lol this is not a Barbie Fashion game, it’s fantasy MMO game… if ANet have philosophy like this, then i will quit this game and forget about this company once and for all and thier future products, because i’ll know what to expect…

- Make some Armor Set for Badge of Honor with better stats
- Some part of that set you should craft, for example boots and helmet, rest of that set u can get from Keeps after killing Keep Lord
- Improve Upgrade Armor, max (+5) on each part, for example: +1 upgrade, improve your part for 10 power, on all set u will gain 300 power. I’ts not much for mean something, but it’s motivating. Offcourse you will have max 50% chance to success for upgrade.
- Special Upgrade Scrolls u can get from Dungeons, offcourse you will have a chance to get it from champions and boss. Magic Find will incrase your chance for drop the scrolls.- WvW make for peaple who like gear progresion as a reward for killing player and claiming keep’s.
And how do you get this gear progression? By grinding WvW, crafting, and Badges of Honor which you admit to in your very first post.
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.

Aaaand there goes the toys out of the pram.
ANet would annoy a lot more people if they implemented a geartreadmill, especially considering that they marketed the game as an MMO without a gear treadmill.
Besides, what part of MMORPG states that you HAVE to have gear progression?
Say, you like WvW. You got the entire WvW armour set yet?
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.

You clearly didn’t do much research into this game then. Even in GW1, the only gear progression was cosmetic. Heck, the level cap wasn’t even increased for expansions and the stats on the gear was the same. So….bye I guess.
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.
This topic has come up over and over and the answer is generally the same: it’s not ANet’s responsibility to alleviate your boredom because they made the game they said they wanted to make. If you don’t like it, find one you do like.
There are more than enough people who do like GW2 as it is designed and if folks like yourself leave it doesn’t matter.
Besides, since they’ve already paid for the game, Anet already has all that revenue, especially for people who wont spend a single dollar in the gem store, meaning that they have all the revenue from the people who have already bought the game and left.
I don’t think he is suggesting anything very opposite to arena net’s philosophy.
I think some of his suggestions are pretty good as long as there is no advantage, your just gearing your player based on doing a task.
I feel one thing to keep people playing after they have leveled to max level and don’t necesarily want to go for the legendary is provide a clear way to gear up your character.
Right now you basically can craft/farm, buy, do dungeons to get exotic gear. Simply extend that mentality to WvW where you have to achieve something very difficult, like have to hold every tower in the borderland and have 500 badges of honor to be able to purchase exotic lvl gear (better build specific armor).
Something that gives them a reason to mass war!

He used the words gear progression in his post, indicating that his suggestion is in direct opposition to what Anet’s philosophy for this game is.
However, YOUR suggestion shouldnt even need to be in the forums. It shocks me that what you said isnt already in WvWvW. I’ll back up your suggestion 100% of the way.

One of the things that I liked when I first tried WvWvW was the realization that it freaking works. You can do your daily quest fully in WvWvW. You can level up in WvWvW via those same quests. The one thing that kinda does not currently work is the gear in there. I’m not much of a PvPer, but I spent a pretty hefty amount of time last week grinding the 50 WvWvW kills within a day for the monthly. I walked away with less than 10 Badges of Honor. That kinda means that the gear available in WvWvW, which I might be very interested in otherwise, would take me literally a month per piece to get. And that’s not very nice, considering that I got to level 80 in less than two weeks.
But yes, I think that they should definitely improve WvWvW to truly make it an alternative to playing the whole renown heart game. Right now, you can go to the world, do renown hearts and events to level up, then do dungeons to get gear. Or you can craft your way up in levels and gear. But doing WvWvW for gear and levels? Well it’s kinda kittened right now.
But there is one thing you should never, ever do. And that is give the WvWvW players an actual unfair advantage in the form of access to better gear. Because not everyone does WvWvW. Heck, if I didn’t want the monthly, I probably never would’ve stepped in. Just because PvP might be a big part of what you do once you’re 80 and got your exotic stuffs does not mean that it should make you superior to people who do not. Because you can bet all of your exotic gear, all of your gold, all of your gems and everything that you’ve ever sold in the Trading Post that there’s a significant amount of people who will never, ever, play a single second of PvP on this game.

LOL now your just plain silly. I gave you an objective view. Maybe you should be more objective on what you expect from people to say aside from agreeing with you…

Hmmm. disagree there bud.
It’s not an unfair advantage if everyone has access to it, but decides not to get it because they don’t like WvW.
I think anets policy of “exotic is exotic” is great though. Whatever they do they should NOT capitulate to the “give us gear grind” crowd..

Make the gear only give advantages to that game mode (so no statted gear) and I wouldn’t have a problem with it:
In PvE, Dungeon Gear would reduce damage by x% / y% / z% in that dungeon depending on the number of pieces you’ve got equipped.
In WvW, Badge of Honour gear would:
- Increase damage done to structures by x% / y% / z% OR
- Reduce damage taken from Siege weapons by x% / y% / z% OR
- Increase the amount of supply you can carry by x / y / z OR
- Reduce the amount of supply your siege weapons require by x / y / z OR
based on the amount of pieces you have equipped.
There you go: gear progression that doesn’t gate content and isn’t required.

That such objective point of view im expected. Thx dude…+1 for your answer. Good Suggestion

I don’t like this idea because there are already potions that achieve this. Not 100% on a wvw potion. It will be like adding MF to stats of gear were you miss out on a chunk of useful stats.. (meaning that gear is undesirable in other situations)
If they just add stats on top of the normal ones then that’s just unfair advantage to an already unfair system… (largely based on number of ppl in wvw)
Great looking armor coupled with set of armor stats you like are more than enough incentive in my opinion. Just put rules that require you to make an effort (group effort).
Yes you can get it by other means but at least this way you have a sense of “I am getting a benefit out of this”. People’s idea of fun usually involves getting something they want out of it not just melting faces.

I love this suggestion so much I’m going to make it a thread of its own.
What would taking less damage in dungeons be good for, it trivializes them so they become even less of a challenge. All that would be good for is farming.
Gear imporvements after 80 is somethin ANet doesn’t want to do, plain and simple. It gives disadvantages to the people who can’t put fourth the amount of time as others may. (Due to family, work, school, social life..) This game needs more end-game content but putting something like this will just bring us back to the old MMO ways which were getting really dull and if you pay any attention, those games lost a ton of regular players. (WoW, FFXI, LOTRO, etc.) Your ideas would just imbalance soo much, don’t like constructive criticism? dont reply anymore.
break. I feel like they should be back by now..”
Why do you need better stats? There are plenty of cosmetic rewards to aim for at 80.

‘I don’t want a gear grind I just want to be able to grind for gear!!!!’
O.o
I would actually like to see a freer stat system. I’m getting annoyed at being forced to take power/precision/vitality instead of power/precision/thoughness in sPvP.

You missed the point of the example: The bonuses would be specific for that game mode / dungeon
They wouldn’t replace any stats, and they wouldn’t have any use outside of the place you get them (so Dungeon damage reduction would only apply inside that dungeon).
As for the potions, they only increase damage.
What would taking less damage in dungeons be good for, it trivializes them so they become even less of a challenge. All that would be good for is farming.
It was more of an example than an actual suggestion, just to illustrate non-statted gear progression without it actually being required. To be honest I’m happy with just cosmetic rewards as well, and I’d hate to see a statted power creep come into play.

THat would be adding stats on top of the current stats part that i mention…
In essence, in wvw you would have an unfair advantage against anti zerg weapons. And if everyone in the opposing borderlands have it and you don’t or vice versa.
The unbalance begins…
O and dungeons would go “LFG only have that special gear for this run” …. Can o worms.
Someone re-edited your idea to be runes. If its a rune replacement that might be good because you sacrifice the rune stat for that advantage which already is there for that.

I see.

The unbalance begins…3) O and dungeons would go “LFG only have that special gear for this run” …. Can o worms.
1) It was more of an example of non-statted gear progression, not an actual suggestion.
2) Same could be said for the entirety of one Borderland having players in Exotic gear and the other in Blues and Greens. WvW is unbalanced anyway, but I doubt a situation like that would happen
3) Point. But we’ve already got people asking for specific professions, and people who have already done the Dungeon anyway. And damage reduction would be trivial.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
2) lol yep
3) Farming, Farming, for some ppl is never trivial.. lol
