With the recent changes made to blindness, the role of the melee classes has changed in WvW combat.

Up to now, we were used to put our melee DPS classes (warriors, and DPS spec guardians) under the protection of our necros, owing to their ability to blind and chill our foes.

This tactic still works today, but blindness has become so effective with the last patch that it’s pretty hard, not to say almost impossible, for a melee DPS class to deal damage when in melee range of our foes. The number of miss is just insanely high.

Therefore, I question the utility of melee DPS classes in WvW combat. Before the patch, their utility was a bit questionable in some circumstances, but now…

This is not much of a problem for the guardians, whose role is essentially to support their team mates in the front line of a combat. They offer both an offensive support (blindness, alteration absorption, …), and a defensive support (regeneration, aegis, dispell, ….)

But this is really a BIG issue for the warriors. Warriors are not as efficient as guardians in a support role. Therefore, if I were to play my warrior as a support tank or healer in the middle of a combat, I would rather play a guardian instead. Warriors can stun, knockdown, and knockback their foes, while dealing some burst of damage. But, with the recent changes made to blindness, most of these warrior specific abilities have turned to be ineffective most of the time (remember how you felt the last time when your Hammer F1 just did nothing…)

So what is the added value of a warrior in WvW combat with these changes made to blindness ? Sincerely, I just don’t know.

Blindness is currently the most powerful crowd control ability of the game. It can be re-applied almost immediately after it has been dispelled.

Suggestion: grant a 2 or 3 seconds of immunity after this alteration has been dispelled.
