Greetings ArenaNet,

Me and my friends are playing Guild Wars 2 and really enjoying every bit of it. While playing it we came across some interesting and new ideas that may also please the community. So, we felt it’s our turn to share with all of you what could be developed, improved and implemented.

Improvements

Trading-post – Filtering System
I believe the creation of the “Trading-post” was to facilitate the sell and buy of a variety of items, which is already possible, but in our opinion it lacks on a better filtering system.
The most important filters just don’t exist, which are filtering by type of armor. There should be a combo box that refined the search by: Light, Medium and Heavy armors. This is a really easy thing to implement on the “Trading-post” and it would be an awesome feature that would buy us time instead of passing the mouse pointer on every single item just to find what we really want.
Along with the above improvement, would also be nice to have some combo boxes were each player could choose items with specific attributes, for instance: condition damage, % of critical damage, power, precision, toughness, vitality, etc. I know this requires an exhaustive inventory about all the attributes we can find in the game on armor pieces, runes and weapons, but these tinny and crucial things would make everyone experience more consistent and easier.

PvE and PvP
In structured PvP, it would be awesome if players could play on the same team as a party, instead of going to each different team randomly. I know we can change teams inside the arena, but it’s not possible to do that every time because of the auto-balance. There’s no point on making a party in the “Heart of the Mists” when you choose a PvP room and each player goes to different teams.

Development

Trading-post – Web Browser
This is really an ambitious feature that would transform and evolve the in-game economy. The idea is to develop the platform that would also support the “Trading-post” via web browser. I don’t really know if the in-game “Trading-post” is based on this concept, but it would be such an amazing step to develop and give to us players, the possibility to search, buy and sell items.
Basically, since every player has an account that can login your official site, we would also have access to some kind of section inside our account where it would be possible to make transactions regarding to the “Trading-post”. Obviously the “pick up” items would be the same, in-game, but the items would be pending until we logged in into the game.
Like I said, this is an ambitious feature and ArenaNet should consider some pros and cons. I can think of a few attempts in order to DDoS your servers or hacking the “Trading-post” system. But then again, to use this feature it would be always necessary to login with an authenticated Guild Wars 2 account.

Cellphone – Trading-post App
In some quick words, this app would allow us to once more logged in on the “Trading-post” and make the usual transactions or just to search for items and it’s attributes for future purchases.

Character Customization System
This feature would be something similar to the character customization we have at the beginning of the game when creating the character. It’s really heartbreaking to not be able to change appearance (face, eyes, mouth, body structure, hair, etc.) forever. For example, in my case, I become to realize I wanted my Norn Guardian to be a lot more tall and with a bigger body (muscles). Now that I’m level 80 and farming dungeons with other players, I really feel disproportional as a Guardian and I wanted to change that even if it was necessary to trade for some gold or gems.
Basically the character customization system would allow us to remake our character in exchange for gold or gems. I believe this can be accomplish really easy by just adding an NPC called “Character Customization” in the main cities (Lion’s Arch, Hoelbrak, Kryta, The Groove, Rata Sum) of the Guild Wars 2 world map.
Please, make this happen because it would be a really interesting feature. Everyone love their main characters and I’m pretty sure everyone would love them even more if they could change and improve their physical appearance.

Guild Hall and/or Training Arena
In Guild Wars we were used to have a thing called “Guild Hall” where we could reunite for PvP (TA – Team Arenas and GvG – Guild Vs Guild), it was our personal corner with all the investments in NPCs, etc. But now, we just have “Heart of the Mists” where people travel to and do structured PvP.
So, this idea could be one of two things:

  1. Allowing the creation of PvP rooms with passwords in the “Heart of the Mists” for duelling and even training some skill builds and different strategies with guild members. This perhaps could be the easiest way of implementing this feature, although the number of PvP rooms in the “PvP Browser” would drastically increase, so maybe creating a specific NPC for these types of room would be wise.
  2. The other solution would be to create effectively the “Guild Hall” and within it we should be able to enter some kind of “Training Arena” for testing skill builds and different compositions of team setups.

Thanks for reading and as more ideas arise, we will gladly update this topic.

Best regards,
