In-game Weather
Just want to +1 your comment about rainfall. It really is nice when it happens.
It would be cool if they could use the “Magic Weather System” from 1990’s Shenmue, but that weather system was based on the actual weather data from 1986-87 for Yokosuka, Japan. Notably from November 29, 1986 to April 1987.
Basically, it could be rainy in the morning, overcast early afternoon, rainy late afternoon, then clear in the evening.

A in-game weather linked with real world forecasts will be awesome. I think something like this:
Maguuna Jungle should be linked to North America weather,
Keyta to Southern Europe,
Ascalon to Central Asia and
Shiverpeaks to Nothern Europe (Sweden, Finland, Russia)

While it sounds nice, it does make me worry about what it will do to peoples’ processors/GPUs on high population servers unless the calculations are done locally, and not server-side (don’t quote me on this). Linking it to real-world forecasts would, I assume, be a fair pain to implement too.
Also, as to the Shenmue inspiration – bear in mind Shenmue was a single player game. Different kettle of fish when you bring servers and clients into the mix.
The density of rain should not be ’’high’’, just so it doesn’t mess up with others’ PC’s.
Though having changing weather would really be great…Perhaps we’ll see something like that in the future!
