hello Guys, ive been playing Guild Wars 2 since it was released. It was really amazing for me how good and awesome this game is in the beggining. However after 2 months i just got my first 80! i was really looking forward at the moment i got my first 80 level but i was quite dissaponited what to do at lvl 80? Well ok, i started doing dungeons …. 2 weeks all dungeons completed …. what next now? ehm WvWvW … 3 weeks after and its boring for me yeah boring. fighting in big zergs while your fps is below 30 even on i7 920 and gtx 570 isnt really addictive so i try to do something other. i tried PvP and i like it kind off but also its same map every time again… You know what this game is lacking off?

More pve content and more dungeons especially raids, yes raids!
its not like i want to turn this game into WoW but do you know why is WoW popular even after 7 years old? because it has a lot of things to do even at maximum level while GW2 doesnt have anything for PVE to offer beside 8 dungeons with medium or high diffuculty.
the game has more content for lower levels than for higher.

I still like playing the game but iam at the moment doing nothing just thinking what should i do now? i love still doing small events (hearts) but i feel like its useless. Griding ruins of orr is also terrible … after 5 times doing same events again and again?
Sorry for feeling it this way but i couldnt resist.
hope this game would become more enjoyable for us, 80 levels.
Anyone shares the same idea?

Funny, I was having these same thoughts. I have been playing MMOs since Ultima Online and I’ve always been a perma-lowbie…. always causal and never elite. I manged to have a small house in UO, I made it to level 40 with a shaman in EQ, Got to level 56 in WoW with a Hunter , SWTOR bored me after level 15 with a bounty hunter… and after 134 hours total played, I’m on the cusp of 80 with an Engineer in GW2.

Although it’s great to feel that I finally managed to get to a level cap in an MMO after all of these years, the point of reaching the level cap is to continue the journey and not get to the destination and then quit or re-roll.

More PvE content seems obvious. It’s disconcerting to find the same Risen monsters at level 80 that I was fighting at level 5. Fleshing out WvW and making it more dynamic and engaging would also be smart. I was hoping that in WvW that towns would be constructible. ….. your home could be attached to a keep that needed to be held in order for you to access it.. .rather than the lame home that is instanced now. Your home could be instanced within the keep but it would be cool to actually have it occupy a piece of real real estate. Building a home would be a great sink of mats from crafting… I real miss that from UO.

No, not really. More PvE content I can get behind. 5 man content. Raids? No way.

WoW doesn’t have more to do, it has more grind. Grind this rep to get that valor to buy that armor. Grind this raid to get those tokens to get the next quest to get the epic gem. Grind more rep to get more gear so you can grind rep better.

Three Months Later New stuff is released and guess what?! All that stuff you grinded for is now obsolete. There are new reps to grind! New raids to grind! New tokens to collect. Everything you just did for the last 3 months was for nothing. Wasted. Your current gear won’t even get you into the new dungeons or raid. Start grinding!

And it goes like this in one big, neverending circle.

Just because the grind in WoW is endless and has a variety of ways to annoy you, doesn’t mean it’s better.

I second your comment. Hate raids personally.
In my opinion the game lacks Spvp modes and real Spvp rewards that could be shown off in PVE. Like skins you could transmute to. They told us that they’re doing a bit Spvp update and it’s 1 map -_-. Can we get a capture the flag mode? Deathmatch free for all mode? Something new?

Honestly, I think you (and many others) are just falling back on the idea of raids because you can’t think of anything better.

Raids are high-stress content that require tons of organization on the players’ part, which has naturally produced problems in the past – Example: One player AWOL = The Raid can fall apart.
It’s not suited for GW2 which has no subscription fee and isn’t tailored around needing to kill a certain boss dozens of times to loot one item.

Pretty much this. Wow is so linear at the end game its quite the opposite of GW2. I feel that there is more to do at lvl 80 in gw2 because all zones are relevant not just the end game zones or raids in wow. It’s all an illusion that wow has more to do.

I think people are used to the linear nature of wow, its hard to break free from the shackles and just play to have fun.

Level-scaling is one of GW2’s major selling points.

If you don’t like it, you should find a different game. GW2 is designed for players who want/like level-scaling. Your demands will fall on deaf ears here.

It’s never going away, and will probably only be emphasized more so in the future as it was last patch.

Arena Net wants leveling to feel irrelevant, and for 2 very legitimate reasons:

  1. No ghost-town zones. All zones being playable at max-level. (And the issue is reduced, but progressive reward-rates keep the issue prevalent)
  2. Pro-grouping. High level players can play their ‘main’ instead of making an alt when a friend joins the game.

I have found level scaling to be for whiners. It eliminates the need to have levels at all. If level scaling exists then using levels in a game should be eliminated. You can have one or the other but not both if the game is going to have some semblance of uniformity. Level scaling reduces a games character to being the equivalent of 1st level throughout the game. There is no sense of power of your character, no satisfaction of gaining a level and frankly makes irrelevant using levels at all. And no level scaling is not a huge selling factor for this game. The big selling factor for this game is the fact it fosters a “help your fellow player” idea. When I started playing this game I was amazed when someone I didn’t know nor was playing with stopped to revive me when I died. Now THAT is a big selling point of this game. I had never before experienced that in a game. Level scaling on the other hand really takes something away from the game by removing the satisfaction you feel from your hard work of leveling your character. It should NEVER be used in a game.

this again… even with lvl scaling my lvl 80 condition build (with only base power) 2-3 shots mbos in the lowest lvl areas that is less than what my power built lowbies can do, so yes she certainly gained a lot of power… i actually wish lvl scaling was more strict

Thanks for making my point. “Even with my level 80 condition build…2-3 shots…” That makes my point exactly. You STILL have to take 2-3 shots to kill something in the lowest areas at level 80?! LOL…that is ridiculous. The fact that scaling bumps you back that close to lower level power is completely absurd.

no it does NOT, i play a condition build becasue i want my conditions to kill not my direct damage, im sure a power build would one shot easily so i did NOT prove your point, my point is it si still a cakewalk to do the lower lvl areas too much of a cakewalk… anyway this is actually quite offtopic, so maybe talk about something relavant to what the topic was created or go to a different thread about lvl scaling…

It’s still a LOT easier for high level characters in low level areas. My lvl 70’ish guardian managed to tank the Champion Troll in Queensdale for ages while the others whittled it down, wasn’t on purpose though – just couldn’t lose the aggro!
Try that on-level without all the skills and traits available to the higher level characters.

The problem I think they were trying to solve is the silliness of most games where level capped players can completely ruin lower level players enjoyment of the game by one-shotting everything in sight. Still happens to some extent but it’s nowhere near as large a problem in GW2 as it is in some games.

This is not off topic from its title. I finished the title with my opinion. Oh and of course you made my point……and quite effectively at that by illustrating the absurdity of down scaling a level 80 character. …And I quite thank you for the illustration.
