Probably been posted before, didn’t find anything on it in this forum. While I’m sure plenty of players exploited butter to hit higher levels, I just want the ability to use a profession entirely during the early levels. WoW destroys GW2 in this particular aspect. If I can’t buy an ingredient early on, I should be able to farm some mobs for desired item, and it shouldn’t take me two hours.

This is a fundamental flaw in the professions in general(Armorsmithing doesn’t feel the pain of the curve as copper is found every where). I get that the devs messed up the amount of exp you get from said profession(s) but that shouldn’t nerf me from having fun trying to build on an aspect that is consider a corner stone of many MMO’s. Crafting is fun, when done right, its especially rewarding when you can still feel versatile during the early levels (1-20).

When you learn Cooking you are informed it requires more time and resources than other professions. Thus your comparison to Armorsmithing is invalidated.

Hmm… I’ve filled up the 250 slots in the collections tab of my bank, I’ve sold a stack of 250 and 3 of my characters have stacks of 100-250 in their bags of Sticks of Butter.

If anything, I’d like them to reduce the drop rate of sticks of butter.

Cooking can’t be compared to other crafting skills since there are major differences between them:

• Cooking has a warning saying it is tougher to do than other crafting skills.
• Cooking is a net loss of money since you can’t vendor or salvage anything that’s made.
• A lot of cooking ingredients comes from loot bags instead of salvageable materials and resource nodes.

This does mean that by the time you’ve leveled up a character to level 80, you’ll often have a tonne of cooking supplies that can be used on another character you make but does make it a lot tougher to level up with the skill for the first time.

An anecdotal response is all forums come with, I’m gonna need some proof there fella, mobs you’re killing for it?, time it took to gather? I mean I can be vacuous aswell.

Again, I’m addressing the early levels, a profession (even if regarded as ‘hard’) should be versatile and fun at the beginning. Keep in mind that I’m talking about an ingredient to help you catch some experience early.

Okey, I am honestly surprised anyone is ever asking for more butter drops. I mean, how have you managed to avoid all that butter that is flooding from every single crack and crevice in the world.

I get that you might still call Tyria Tyria, but there are a few who call it ButterLand, since you get so much butter for your actions within that land.

Well, I guess they reduced the butter drops some time ago, which is good.

I am glad everyone else is getting butter, but after 1.5 hours in all my MF gear killing every centaur and bandit in Queensdale, I have a sum total of “0” (zero) butters. Yes, once upon a time I had tons. Random is random but it would be nice to get….oh I don’t know…….a vendor that sells it? Anyone want some blood, bones, glittering dust, carrots, or hooves? I got tons of that!!!

Sell the blood, bones, dust, and carrots on the TP and then buy the butter you need.

I would have to vote with the ‘less butter please’ faction I’m afraid. My experience has been that it is all too easy to find. One way to judge if you are having less luck in finding compared to the majority would be to compare its price in the Black Lion to other drops. However, ultimately I suspect that would be redundant, if you’re not finding a ‘common’ drop, sell the rarer items you are finding and buy the butter you need. This way any farming you perform is productive.

Butter is a major drop off bags of stuff you get from mods like centaurs, bandits, charr, dredge… so on. You get a ton of it, and need very little of it. What I want are pine nuts, and chickpeas. Those are increadibly rare and, to my mind, the reason I haven’t mastered cooking yet. I have a tone of everything else, but for the life of me I can’t find those.

Yes, I will sell all that stuff and buy butter. But fundamentally, if its so common that you all are overwhelmed by it……..why do I get none? It’s a common item, needed extensively by anyone that cooks. I had so much in the beginning I would vendor it. But my stacks are gone. Leaving players to the whims of the TP is not nice. Just my opinion.

Back to farming. And still no butter. I am starting to take it personal! LOL

Wait, MORE butter? Just by leveling my alts I obtained stacks upon stacks of the stuff.

Pinenuts and Chickpeas are karma food from certain vendors, can’t remember which. Check the wiki.
