I think ranger pets should have a down time period when they are killed. Whenever I kill a ranger pet in WvW, it runs back to its master to regen its health in 10 seconds and gets sent back out at me. It get even more annoying when you are trying to siege and they send the pet out on suicide runs to hit siege equipment over and over. My idea is for there to be at least a 30 second downtime where they can’t use the pet if it dies.

While a pet is in a defeated state, a ranger has the ability to switch to another pet to continue the fight. This allows for quick adaptation during fights. If the pet isn’t defeated, the base recharge is 20 seconds; this becomes 60 seconds if the swapped pet has been defeated. A defeated pet that was swapped out will be at full health when it is swapped back in. If one pet is defeated before the recharge for the other has completed, you will temporarily have to fight without assistance.

So it’s 60 seconds to swap a pet again if the pet is defeated. The regular swap recharge is 20 seconds. I suspect what you are seeing is the Ranger calling a pet back before it dies then swapping it out and sending out the new pet.

Although, if you go out of battle the pet will regain health at the same rate as the player.
