I would like the option to choose a display name for your character when you use an infinite tonic. Could add a little something to the game.

No, buy yourself a name change contract of the shop, there you will have your weay to change your chara name.

Anet will never make such ideas that let players circumvent to buy things from the shop, that are already there.

What did you mean then, if not the character name?
Did you mean then perhaps a tonic, that should allow you to have a personal title?

I meant when you use a tonic have an option to have a different display name while under the influence of said infinite tonic.

But the character name is your display name.
When you want to have through a tonic a new display name, then this is just circumventing the character rename contract item in the shop, because it is exactly what this item does.
It lets you change permanently your display/character name.

All what your suggestion makes different is only, that you have the option with the tonic solution to return to your old display name, if you didn’t like it or if you want just to change it again the next time you activate the tonic.

This kind of item should never exist, because it is basically the entry ticket for scammers, which want to change their names basically, so that people can’t report them, or basically as a preventing method, by doing scams under a false name and then ending the tonic, so that if people reported, they couldn’tz be successful, because of them reporting a fake name, that doesn’t exist, or better said, existed only for a short temporary moment as a display name .

Whatever it is what your intentions are really with such a kind of tonic.
I think such an Item should never exist. It would harm the game more, than it would do anything good for it in my opinion.

I am curious, what do you think of when I write tonic? The tonics we have in game change your appearance. I think it would be cool if you could temporarily be called vicious pingu for a quagen or whatever else comes into your head for those few minutes.

But when you used one of those tranformation tonics,you just transform into something, people can still read normally your character/display name.

Say I have one of those eternal exoitic tonics that transform me into one of those elementals, as they are the easiest to get from Tp for a few copper coins …
If I use it, i will transform for example into a Fire Elemental.

While I am in the form of a Fire Elemental, people will still see my Character Name as display like normal. So when they click on me, they can see my Name “ABC” and not something like “Fire Elemental” for the moment I use the tonic.

The bolded stuff is the point, I believe is, what you are suggesting here, that when you use a tonic, that your character name on display changes also too. Am I right?

The problem with that is, that such mechanics could be used for scammign other people.
The outright only solution for this I think would be then onkly, that people, which use such tonics, shouldn’t be able in that time to use the TP nor should they be able to send Mails to other players as logn they have their eternal tonic effect active.

This way would the game prevent any possibilities of people trying to scam others.
