Inspect Characters...
While on one side of my brain, I would plus this, I would also reject it because of the community it would create; one that judges you on your gear. Kind of a gray area for me.
I’d love to see this, just so I can find out what people are wearing, haha. Some of the armor is so pretty, but I have no idea what it is.
To avoid all the elitism, perhaps it could hide the stats, and just show the name and the ability to preview it, etc.
If you want to see what it is, find the crisscross sword at the top of the screen, click on that, goto the mist…….inside the mist look for the the pvp locker, open it. Inside the locker are all the skins for armor are in there, to the best of my knowledge.
This has been suggested before, use the search feature.
Karma armor is not in there.
I don’t see why people are so against inspecting gear. Elitists are like… 5% of the population. Just tell them to kitten off.
I think that would be nice to have… to be able to inspect other characters armor that they’re wearing. For instance, you see someone in Lions Arch and you think, “Man, that armor is cool… I wonder what it is…” I think it’d be cool to be able to see what it is
Then you ask them and they link the armour/items to you if they want to you know. I know what you’re saying with the inspect option, but there’s enough Elitist BS that goes on in this game already, such a mechanic would only significantly add to the situation.
“Oh you want to roll with us in XYZ Dungeon, c’mere….naw sorry, you’re not geared nuff”
Or you could just ask the guy what armor he is wearing.
That’s true, I suppose. You could always ask someone what gear they’re wearing… but people are sometimes AFK, and when they come back, you may have logged out. I think maybe only seeing the name would be nice. Just my two cents :-P

Yes it is.

You put in an inspect gear option and you will find that Elitists are closer to 75-85% of the population on most of the servers. That is taking into account for all those “closet elitists” that say they don’t mind what gear you have to suck up to the devs and come off as innocent and friendly until they get the inspect gear option… Then they show their true colors.

Ask me . Im more than happy to tell you what im wearing . Inspect should never happen though
It’s a weird concept, talking to to other people, but this was pretty much what we did before gear inspection.
I kinda like it better that way. Anything that fosters player-to-player communication is a better design IMO. I think the current linking system does the same job (after all, you could “gear check” to get in to some group and then swap to identical gear with different stats anyway)

While I would agree with you on the gear swap, that is the other reason the Elitists want an inspect option so they can do random gear inspections during dungeons.

Your adorable, you honestly believe that elitist are only 5%, is this your first MMO?
Sure tell them to Kitten off works as they are booting you form the group, now because you don’t have X gear you can’t get a group to save your life. Unless of course you have the Gear they like.
Asking someone works wonders, if they are afk move on, inspecting someone against their consent to say yes is wrong and should never happen. Wow had an inspect and people would inspect random people all the time and then blast them in trade chat just to be trolls. Inspect looks nice on paper but the application of it has way to man downsides due to players that use it for the wrong reason.
Every set of gear in the game that is currently available can be found in the PvP locker, minus the Fractal weapons I believe.
No one can come up with any sort of reason as to why an inspect needs to be in the game, that someone can’t just say ask.
Asking people should be encouraged. Half the time I have to guess what some one wants to know, because they just don’t ask in chat. I’m not for or against the inspect idea though. Also, is saying Kitten something running on this forum, or is there a mechanic in-place that replaces cursing with Kitten?
Also I hate my user ID.
I just ask people what they’re wearing if it looks neat, haha. :P
Yeah, if you say something that the filter doesn’t like, it stick in kitten for you. I’ve started just actually writing it in though, sometimes. xD

Agreed. This would allow inspection without the fear of elitism / rejection.
