Inspection option!
Been discussed through multiple times.
The downsides to the community tend to outweigh the good.
Care to elaborate? Searching the suggestion forum doesn’t seem to work.
I dont want anyone to see what I use its my own build and I don’t share.
The reason this would be a bad idea is because then everyone would use it when forming groups, excluding those who they feel are using sub-par gear. It’s a bad idea on so many fronts it’s not funny.

I agree with Berelious and don’t see any reason to add this. As it would be the start of the gear score elitism the some other MMOs are plagued with.
In GW2, the most elitism you’d see in grouping was pinging the equivalent of dungeon tokens before joining a dungeon group. You’d also have to ping your build before going in. (Skillbar)
Id like an inspection option for NPCs , both good and bad.
Not for players though.
Titan: I don’t care to see anyone’s build, if you want to be a super secret elitist that’s fine. I could care less what your points are in, or what rune, sigil, etc you have on the items. I just want to know what that cool helm, chest-piece, sword, etc is that I see someone standing around the TP with.

You listed ONE reason, that doesn’t really qualify as “so many fronts it’s not funny.”
There is already a lot of elitism in GW2, people get excluded for not being 80 for a lvl 40 dungeon or not having experience on a specific path. People will ALWAYS find something to use in this respect.
Banono: You can’t have anything like Gearscore in GW2 since there are no addons. There is already a lot of elitism in GW2.
There are also several solutions for using the inspect as a way to measure gear.
For example :
- The system could list all items as what they are transmuted to look like
- It could display only the highest or lowest level item that uses that model.
- It could just display the name of the item without stats or rarity coloring.
I’m sure there are other solutions to keep people from using it as a measuring stick, but that is what I could think of in 5 minutes. It seems like people don’t want it because other games have it and some do it poorly.
Add this…..
But add an option to disable “Viewing” so those that don’t care to share don’t have to, but those that want to share, say with guildmates, can.
If you want to share your gear, you can easily do so by pinging it on the chat, as with skills. No need for a prying tool for that.
