Introduce trait line banning in tournaments

I would like to see a play mode in tournament games in which teams can ban trait lines before the game. Each team gets to ban two trait lines which must not be from the same profession. If an enemy player has invested trait points in a banned trait line he can redistrubute them to other trait lines (or he can choose to play another profession).
I believe this could add a new dimension of strategy to tournament games since teams would try to disrupt an enemy’s strategy and they would have to be more flexible when it comes to their own strategy. It would encourage players to learn different roles and professions because their original set-up might get banned.
This might also effect game balance since a character build which is considered to be to strong by the community will get banned often.
Or just add a whole ’nother set of trait lines and buff the weak ones to add more customization to the game.

Absolutely terrible.
Considering current build diversity, even removing 1 trait line you can practically remove certain professions from the game entirely.
I’d see a thief, ban Critical strikes. or deadly arts. Hell probably Deadly arts so I can kill Mug and Venom Share at the same time while straight nuking any burst thief builds significantly, leaving basically only condi thiefs and what Cruuk? They could roll without DA, sure, but mmm that damage nerf, and that lack of instant damage. Quite manageable.
Then I’ll remove Water on the Eles, or Hgh, Guardian bunking, or kill of whatever was left of the warrior for good measure just to say I did.
Even if there was better build Diversity it’s pretty cheese considering there is only 8 professions. Counter-picking maps is fine, but this? No thanks jefferson.

The problem with this is the trait lines are not uniform across classes. Each trait line is a combination of 2 different stats, but they are combined in different ways for each class.
Example:
Thief has Toughness + Healing Power for one tree
Ele has Toughness + Condition Damage for it’s related tree.
Great idea, that way nobody will be able to play the only viable build of his profession.
Teams will look like:
Roamer Guardian
Support Thief
Bunker Mesmer
Burning Condi Necro
DPS Warrior (What? That’s their actual role?)
Could be an interesting feature for custom arenas (kinda messes around like Codex a bit), but I don’t think it should be in the main game.
The current state of the game forces some professions to use a specific trait line while others can have a little flexibility, therefore this mechanic would create an unfair advantage for the professions that already have an advantage in that they don’t have to spec one specific way just to be viable.
They should remove all traits instead. Only base skills allowed.

So, if you wanted to play a burst thief you wouldn’t ban the respective traits, thus allowing the enemy team to have a burst thief as well.
That doesn’t sound like much fun. Banning an entire trait line can effect many different builds in certain professions. Might as well ban the professions themselves, because that’s what this idea would do.

Mmmm well since I have no burst thief, and my Ele got kitten #8230; think I’ll take a bite out of the Mesmer too, or maybe the Guardian. Don’t really need to hit the Warrior since Anet did that for me already.

This idea is beneficial to weak and okay professions and trait lines. Only exceptionally good ones will get banned. Why would a team ban the thief if banning the bunker elementalist is better for their team?
Teams with a surprising set-up will have an advantage since the enemy team will most likely ban other traits.
Here’s a new idea:
Allow teams to ban dual professions.
Each team can designate a profession of which there can only be one in the other team.

Back on topic…..I don’t have an issue with any options for custom arenas, the more the merrier. If people don’t like how a room was made, they can play in one they do like.
