Is A Random Map Possible?
How would that be anywhere NEAR possible in a PERSISTENT world?, that could only EVER work in a Singleplayer game, or a game where you have to make a party before you enter and each party get their own instance (yes like GW1). I don’t think I need to tell you why do I?
Of course it’s possible, though with certain limitations.
If it’s a public area that is accessible by everyone, like any other zone, then it can’t be random every time you go in. Maybe they could have a map that changes daily, with server reset. Anyone who was currently in there at the time of change would have to be either kicked out temporarily, or reload the map when it happens.
If it’s a privately-instanced area, then you could potentially have a randomly-generated map for you and your party every time you enter. This could be used for a sort of dungeon-esque purpose. Or, it could be a map only accessible by your guild!
The idea has merit, though a randomly-generated map is not going to be as good as an intelligently-designed map. They can carefully set a lot of parameters which will limit certain qualities to set thresholds, and the more complex they get with it the more “even” and playable the map will tend to be. Still, it would be no substitute for a human-created zone.
It would be kind of cool to see one partially-randomized map you could visit, if for no other reason than to spice up variety for those who have already been everywhere and would like to explore unfamiliar territory. The terrain could have different “flavours,” too — one day it’s Queensdale-like, green hills; the next, it’s a barren, “branded” wasteland; and another day it’s mostly flooded. There could be goals like “Find and defeat this Boss,” or “Capture the Three Camps.” It could be used for PvE stuff, or even as a dynamic element in PvP or WvW.
Not sure what the “lore” behind this would be, though they seem to be quite comfortable with the familiar cop-out of “the Mists did it.”

Thank you both for responding. My thinking in this direction was to have an instance which you or a team, dungeon like I guess, where nothing is ever the same. I’m just getting tired of repeating events after finishing the game.
With regard to lore, this could become a realm of chaos. Where even typical physics could be even be skewed. In another similar post I started a while back, one person suggested that an asuran krewe could be taking chaos readings in an effort to understand what is taking place. Maybe the mad king created the realm of chaos for some reason.
Anyway, it could be a break from the same old routine, especially when you wanted to do something different. It would be there as something different every day. I’d be there fighting a lot, just to fight in a new map every day. It would be its own reward for me.
It wouldn’t work because it wouldn’t be feasible to test it all out
