I know it’s beating a dead horse, but it’s seriously needed.

Too many waypoints diminish the exploration of the world. By diminishing the amount of waypoints, traveling becomes relevant again. With more traveling, there is more incentive to participate in random Dynamic Events.

Waypoints should be used for relevant locations, such as dungeon entrances, zone entrances/exits, smaller outposts/hubs (trading posts, vendors, crafting stations, etc.).

The solution is to introduce mounts, whether it’s player-owned mounts, or NPC-driven ones. Either one would be fine, as long as it makes Tyria more immersive, because to be honest, it doesn’t feel immersive at all, due to all the instant teleportations everywhere.

No mounts. Don’t do it. I agree that this flood of waypoints on the map limits the feeling of exploring but why would mounts help? You’re skipping through just like you were before, only this time you don’t have to explore ahead of time.

Why are mounts seriously needed?
*It’s not for speed. So why is smaller cosmetic mounts not good?
*It removes a needed gold sink.

The higher the map the fewer the waypoints. Look at orr or southsun. I expect as more zones are added you will find these safe havens to be sparse or contested often

when you explore the world the first time you don’t have the waypoint that you think diminuish the experience…
when you do the second time you just don’t want to run from one end to another of the map to get to some point, i already hate the contested waypoint and you are asking to put less waypoints so you can run with a minipony?
no please

No mounts, this isn’t wow. Wow had very, very few points in each zone for flightpaths, gw2 has tons of waypoints everywhere. Yes, we have to pay a bit and it costs more the higher the level, further the distance, but it’s not that expensive. At most, probably about kitten to go the furthest across world at level 80 (guessing), a single drop or two covers that cost.

I think mounts would then have to be “siege” type weapons so we can attack with them, and that then brings up a whole new set of challenges. For now, I strongly disagree with bringing in mounts. Waypoints are a money sink, yes, they aren’t always cheap, but they aren’t burdeonsome, keep as is.

I like the WP’s. Depending on where you needed to go, it could take forever to get somewhere in WoW. I don’t need to be wasting 10-15 minutes of my ever increasingly valuable playtime just travelling somewhere. I experienced the thrill of exploration the first time I did 100% world completion. After that, I want to get where I need to get as soon as possible and not waste time on travel.
