It would be nice to see Dual-Professions return again:
I’m not sure how it would work skills-wise and I think utilities would make classes overpowered.
So much of Anet’s problems with balancing the first game stemmed from the dual profession mechanic that I really don’t trust them with it a second time around.
I’d much rather they beef up combo effects to encourage their use a bit more.
The skill design and system works significantly different that I don’t see this as beneficial. While it might be neat to use utilities and elites from a 2nd class, even if it isn’t a balancing issue, it might take away from the game somehow group wise.
They intended it for GW2 then scrapped it because it just didn’t make sense or something.
Don’t expect it to ever be added.
Besides, I love it how it is
Although this isn’t dual professions, I think it would be sweet to see some group specific abilities (skills, special triats, and attributes), maybe tied to your Order that you choose or some other orginizations.
Second, this also isn’t dual professions, but closer to it. If at a certain level you gain access to a subproffesion, one for every profession. Each subclass would have abilities and skills similar to the selected profession, they would not be any of the skills available to that other primary profession and the variety would be much smaller, Also each one would be balanced for your primary. Last idea, it might be neat to also let you access one weapon you normally wouldn’t be able to use, but one the sub could.
asking this at this point of development is like asking to redevelop the game from scratch. This will never happen. There may be some secondary “perk” or something like that at some point in the future, but never the dual professions from gw1.
I still remember the good old days of X/Rt on GW1. LOL. Everyone can be a spirit summoner and being an SOS Ritualist can benefit everyone in some way.
Well also the fact that all professions could have pets too.
But as far as I made use of the powerful SOS for all my professions, I don’t really like how it blurs the profession significance.
I love the way it is on GW2. Every profession IS different from each other. I am a ranger so pets are exclusive to me. I am a mesmer so illusions are exclusive to me.
Not to mention the balance between different professions.
Id just be happy with more utlities.

Nah it’d be ridiculous. Especially with the Mesmer utilities. Imagine multiple Guardian clones?
I could see them possibly coming up with more skills down the line. But I don’t expect they will add very many. One of their public statements something along the lines of: having so many skills in GW1 made the system too complex and was a huge nightmare to deal with. As you can see they are still doing constant changes to the skills in updates, over 7 years and still not just right. Or still having to compensate for some sort of unintended use or exploit like thing or whatever.
thief/ranger with access to two quickness utilities? or thief/warrior, with two quickness and endure pain?
yeeeeaaaaaah… no.
as for the poster above me, i think the problem was not only having a lot of skills, but having you able to mix up skills from two professions. as long as each prof keeps their own skills, balancing should be more straightforward than having to consider the other 500 skills that could potentially be mixed with it for an exploit.

They most likely don’t want to see the return of ‘The Immortals’…I’m sure you all remember the Immortal Monks running around with like 60hp @Level 20.
