Using others to complete objectives is the whole point. Someone is offering to help you complete something you could be struggling with. Until ports are nerfed or devs post this is considered an exploit, I don’t see the problem. If you think its cheating and don’t support the use of ports………then don’t use them. I have not seen anyone brag that they have completed all the jumping puzzles and they a l337 or anything. Your prestige should come from events, dungeons, pvp and wvw, where you have the opportunity to work with others and show what you are capable of. It shouldn’t be based on your completion of jumping stuff.
Widespread use of mesmer ports to complete hard jumping puzzles skews any stats based on successful completion of the jp. The jp may be seen as being the right level of difficulty for most players based on these false positives. Furthermore, those players who would never cheat on anything are disproportionately represented among the minority who fail to complete the jp.
No offense, but you have no idea how ANet’s internal statistic collection works, so to say that portals aren’t represented in them and skew the stats is pure conjecture. It would be trivial to record whether or not a player has used a mesmer portal in the five or ten minutes before completing a puzzle, and whether that portal was someone else’s or their own.
ANet is not unaware of portals being used in jumping puzzles.

And you do know how their internal statistic collection works? Just wondering, not trying to start an arguement.

Unfortunately not, I am limited to a knowledge of programming, and [what I see as] common sense.
Oh ok, what you said makes sense, I was just wondering if you somehow knew the way their program thing works.
First of all there are reports of Devs giving mesmer ports. So lol stats?
And as long as puzzles like Griffonrook run, Scavenger’s Chasm, hexfoundry unhinged, winter wonderland, Mad King’s clock tower, and my personal Favourite Spekks’s lab, exist and have existed. I feel the arguments against portals are invalid.
“Maybe I was the illusion all along!”
