Q:
Jumping Puzzles and JUmping in General
Well in Zephyr Sanctum, you are very reliant on those custom skills. Especially the number 1 jump skill, has a tendency to sometimes activate too late. It is very vulnerable to lag. Skill 3 is far more reliable, since you can target where you’ll land. A lot of the platforms in Zephyr Sanctum are labeled to show you which power to use. For most jumps, skill 3 is the way to go.
As for general PVE, there are some issues in the game itself that make jumping difficult, and not all of it is probably your fault. There is of course the annoying in-combat slowdown, that makes jumping nearly impossible if there are enemies around (and sometimes you remain stuck in-combat, which is a bug). The camera is TERRIBLE, and often does not have enough space to properly show you the jump. And platforms are sometimes poorly communicated. You can sometimes barely see if you are landing on a slanted surface.
There are things you can do to make jumping easier. Firstly, when you jump, make sure you run all the way to the end of the platform before you make the jump. Don’t jump too early. Second, there are classes that make jumping easier. Mesmers have portals, which can be used to also teleport your friends back up. And necromancers have Spectral Walk, which acts like a sort of bungee rope (but you have to use it in time).
All classes have speed boost skills, which help overcome the more difficult jumps, and can sometimes counter the effects of in-combat slow down (seriously, that mechanic needs to go).
