No raids? Fine. I can live with that, and I can see why having raid content will damage the integrity of a game like GW2.
But please ANet, Add some honestly difficult content. You don’t even have to add new gear; maybe just some new skins or a title that is aquired upon completion of the instance.
Players, including myself, enjoy the dungeons you have inplace as of now. But let’s be real: they are so easy, it’s ridiculous. Even a terrible pug group can complete them. I can say this because I have been in some truely horrific pug groups.
All you would have to do is add mechanics to boss fights, like requiring cleansing of certain debuffs to prevent a wipe, adding more prominent healing effects of bosses, etc. Content that takes weeks to months or work to complete. To keep players around, there needs to be items/achievements to work toward, and just having legendary weapons is not enough.
This may require the addition of couple skills, like a taunt or a more effective group heal. OR better yet, how about a weapon that is used by one group member which is given to them at the beginning of the dungeon. This weapon would have a set of skills, like the conjured fiery great sword, that would allow that group member to act like a “tank” in the instance. Notice how “tank” is in quotations. You can interpret that as you wish.
I feel like GW2 has soooooo much potential, yet the developers are scared to add hard content at the risk of losing some casual players. However, I believe the game as a good amout of content for them already and we more “hardcore” caracters are left to farming mats for legendary weapons.
To give credit where credit is due, the new WvW changes are awesome and it has allowed me to play WvW without hating myself 20 min into it. Thank you!
Anyway, it’s just an idea.
