Karma Vendor for T6 mats
I totally second this idea. Karma should be seen as a currency like others but that is gained more naturally though the game. There should be more things to buy with it than karma gear, cultural weapons and obsidians.
If we consider we need at least 250 of each T6 mats for a legendary, we’d need 535,000 karma for one stack. I think the price is reasonable and would still take quite a lot of time to buy all of them with just karma.
OR
Maybe add “bags” like in the laurel merchant that grants 3 random T6 mats for maybe 5000 karma.
I was getting them with my laurels until I decided to stop and stack my laurel for more ascended amulets (for alts).
I agree, it would solve alot of problems. 2100 karma sounds about right. It would also allow the crafters the ability to have access to the types of materials needed to make runes and sigils at long last. Zerker gear wouldn’t be 450% higher in price than everything else on the market and it would break the stranglehold some of the richer players have and use to manipulate the prices in the TP. (which I consider to be an exploit btw)
It would be a win all round.
I agree with the OP. I have tons of Karma that I never use because, well, there isn’t much of anything to actually use it on. Please make this possible?
That’s a great idea. Karma is ridiculously underused for something supposed to be the currency that would set you free to do whatever you want. Wouldn’t get my hopes up tho. Just look at legendaries: People who go for them don’t play the game, just farm and play the market. So you can’t expect anything good from where that atrocity of a system came from… it is only gonna get worse. I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re swimming in currencies and tokens and endless 250-stack recipes and all that BS by next year.

this is a very good idea! and i really hope it get put into the game. and fast.
this is a good idea, i hope anet considers this, then i could finally get that commanders badge. I could get the mats sell on tp and wouldnt have to wander orr just to get gold, cause i prefer to play pvp.
It’s a nice idea but basically, they don’t want you to convert karma to money, which you could do by selling the mats. It’s why they removed some karma food items from the chef, because people were using karma to make chili pepper poppers and then selling them.
People converted karma to gold and were banned, then ANet removed chili peppers as a karma item from the chefs. These people were making 25 silver per stack of poppers and were banned. One single T6 blood may be more than that.

It would inflate the economy destroying the price of a legendary and the T6 mats. Some players have so much Karma it’s not funny. Legendaries are supposed to be hard to get.. hence the name…
A recent patch made the price of crystalline dust to go down and more mobs are dropping T6 mats then they ever were. So I personally don’t agree with this.
The game has already an option to get easier all kinds of material – with LAURELS.
The point only is, the rate with that you get the materials for your laurels just sucks xD
So I think it would be just better to improve the rate of materials you receive for your laurels to make the time/cost ratio better and alot more fair.
About legendaries.. they shouldn’t be supposed to get extremely lifetaking hard..theres even an achievement for them that requires 5 legendaries to get max…
When I see how many people already run around with multiple 1h legendaries, then they can’t be anything super prestigious anymore, unless anet finally adds more new legendary weapons with new skins… but thats normal, everything will los over time its value, especially once new items find their way into the game
The legendary system of GW2 sofar is total bullkitten, full of grind, where GW2 was from begin on supposed to be not that kind of typicasl 0815 Asia Grinder like game with ridiculous kittened drop chances that are like 0,001% to 0,01% or so…
Or this antisocial RNG bullkitten in the shop, where anet lets us gamble so fall always for our items, just so that they can draw out money from our pockets the most, because it would be naturally too “easy”, if they would just sell the stuff in the shops for a kitten CLEAR PRICE, where you also absolutely know instantly, what you will exactly receive for your money, instead if this RNG crap, where you never will know, what you get for your money and basically you will waste your money only 99,9% of all times…
Whats the reason why i personally boycot the shop and will never buy anything in it, when it comes with antisocial RNG mechanics behind it, because i want to play a MMORPG and not a Casino Game… If I kittening ever wanted to do that, Id travel to Las Vegas!!! to become poor there…wtf!! seriously Anet, what has just only become out of this company within the last years compared to how their shop worked for GW1 … but I think thats thanks to NCSoft, their greedy korean mother company, which destroyed with their shop politics and the like also already games like AION.
However, thats an other topic, I start to rage myself up too much into this, because the shop could be just soo much better and customer friendly just without all this RNG crap.
About T6 Materials, who knows even if T6 will always be the best materials.. I could even believe that one day it could be, that Anet introduces with an add on or so new T7 materials and whhoops would also T6 mats fall in their price, which could maybe happen, if ANet thinks stuff like ascendend/legendary armory should be crafted one day with a kind of new material, who knows that, it just lies not in our hands …
However I support this idea her,e karma is really extremly underused. the game has thousands of Karma vendors, most of them even selling for game just only 3 ridiculous cooking materials and nothing else…
All other karma vendors except a few exceptions sell only underleveled blue/green trash and nothing really useful that a player could need at the “end game” for lvl 80 characters.
Why can’t Anet just let us unlock us also weapons/armory of rare/exotic quality for example, once our character reaches level 80, so that we can get all the stuff that the vendors sell at the moment only at blue/green quality also of higher quality for alot more karma.
Example:
Blue Lvl 10 Karma Weapon = 100 Karma
Green Lvl 10 Karma Weapon = 350 Karma
Now we want to have the exact same item with its skin/name, just as lvl 80 blue to orange item
Lvl 80 Blue > 2500 Karma
Lvl 80 Green > 7500 Karma
Lvl 80 Yellow > 21500 Karma
Lvl 80 Orange > 42000 Karma
Making the Item accountbound instead soulbound increasse Karma Ccost by + 208000 Karma for example for a lvl 80 orange karma weapon of your choice.
and karma would receive this ways instantly alot more meaning.
Yes I agree. Much like obsidian shards, they should only be available from karma merchants that require a bit of work to get to, like the temple of Balthazar.
Perhaps spread these materials out between various different temples in orr to solve 2 problems at once.1. Available T6 mats from Karma merchants.
2. Bring people back to Orr.My only concern is that if they implemented this, then T6 Mats would be made Account Bound for the simple fact they don’t want to have an exploit for converting karma to gold, which would mean lower level players trying to craft will not be able to craft exotic items as they won’t be able to buy the T6 Mats from the TP.
Well honestly I don’t think they will unless they used the mystic toilet and I have a very easy solution for that, take all gear recipes out of the mystic toilet because it wasn’t ever meant as a replacement for crafting in the first place. It’s been a thorn in the side of the real crafters for a long time now. (I mean all gear except mytic weapons because that still forces people to wait to gain enough of those coins and skill points to make one). Even then they could make the mystic weapons unsalvageable as a restriction.
I do like the karma from temple vendors idea tho however aside from the initial burst of people who enjoy manipulating the market, there wouldn’t be much use for the T6 mats in the TP if everyone were in Orr keeping the temple open so the TP wouldn’t make much money at all from these items, they’d become like many of the other items 1 copper well below what they normally cost now and they’d no longer be sellable anyways. The market would cure itself.
Speaking purely for legendaries
1. a lot of T6 is gained from making clovers.
2. a ton of T6 can be made from laurels.
That should get you at least at the 66% complete mark, after which the gifts of might and magic are within financial reach.
Sure, one also needs laurels for Ascended, but concessions have to be made somewhere. I don’t see that as a problem but rather as a choice of whatever you want most.
Furthermore Karma can be sinked into boxes which translates into very nice gold income. Gold can be translated into T6. I really don’t see the issue.
Delayed content is eventually good. Rushed content is eternally bad. ~ Shigeru Miyamoto
This would only work if instead of T6 materials there was a substitute material that can be used in place of T6 mats when crafting. For example, Instead of an elaborate totem that you get for gold, you would buy with karma a “prestine” elaborate totem, which would be an account bound substitute that could not break the market.
Otherwise it is a fantastic idea considering there is a point when karma is literally useless since it is not an account-wide total.
I like this idea very much. If they have a problem with people making karma to gold, they should make every item, that is crafted with (account-bound) karma-mats accound bound on acquire.
Yes, the way will be Mats -> Gift of M…. -> Gift of Fortune and THEN the crafted item, but I really hope Anet will like this suggestion and get’s it done coding-wise.
This is an intriguing idea. I agree that you can’t really expect people not to farm when you put items in the game that encourage it.
I am quickly approaching the point where all 8 of my 80s are in full exotic gear, as well as having nearly enough karma to purchase all the stacks of obby shards that I will ever need for those 5 legendary weapons for the achievement.
Most will not bother to get 5, so I wager there is already a lot of idle karma in the game already. Therefore, I can understand if Anet doesn’t want to allow karma to be turned to gold. However, Gnat’s suggestion would be an excellent way to circumvent that. Creating a simple mystic forge recipe to turn, say, 10 t6 mats into a pristine mat, and then putting a karma vendor in the game that sells pristine mats for 20-25k karma, and finally having an alternate gift of might/magic recipe that used the pristine mats instead, would give a way for players to play with Anet’s model, rather than against it when it comes to legendaries.
This may all be a moot point when 500 level crafting comes out, but the way they are talking about implementing it may only exacerbate the situation. It may become that people are going to feel compelled to get 10 t6 of each type per day (given the charged crystal style crafting limit that has been implied for t7 crafting), instead of 250 someday. This could result in people feeling like they need to go farm instead of play to keep up with their cooldowns.
I think given all these points, an alternate karma based system almost becomes imperative. Otherwise, the players are going to become even more influenced to farm content as time goes by.
