Hi,

Has it been suggested yet that a good use for all-that-Karma might be to exchange it for Dungeon Tokens?

Doing a dungeon is fun. Doing different paths is fun. But having to repeat a dungeon over and over to get any significant number of tokens to purchase what you want from the token vendor is just frustrating and tedious.

I would therefore like to suggest a karma -> Dungeon Token exchange, at a rate somewhere approximating 4,000-5,000 karma per token.

This by no means makes a set of armor that requires 1380 tokens easy to acquire, given 1380*5000 is still 6.9 million karma, but it gives an offset from the number of repeats required for the same dungeon. So while you complete dungeon paths and receive tokens, by doing other dynamic events in the world you can also contribute that karma to achieving the same token armor.

3 paths in a single dungeon would net 180 tokens per day. If you spent 5 days (3 paths) doing this, netting 900 tokens, you might be able to offset the remaining 480 tokens with a significant of karma you’ve built over time.

I think a system like this could work, in theory. I would take a slightly different direction, perhaps something like a daily purchase. This would gate the conversion and allow a more generous exchange.

Something like…
30000 Karma = 60 Tokens
This would be approximately 500 Karma per individual token. This, remember, being allowed only once per day as a means to supplement the income from dungeons runs.

Conversely, they could simply increase the Token rewards across the board by 50%? 90 tokens for the first path, 45 for the second, et cetera.

Currently, getting a full set of armor is incredibly tedious. Perhaps increase the token rewards by the same factor as the gold rewards are for harder dungeons. This way easier dungeons don’t see much/any increase, but the more difficult ones see more tangible returns more quickly. I adore the dungeons in this game, but I don’t enjoy running them dozens of times for one set of armor.

Lol, as if us dungeon runners haven’t been insulted enough yet by lack of content, trash rewards, having to live with the fact that mindlessly zerging and spamming auto-attack is more rewarding than skilled play in dungeons, a token reward nerf, no developer attention because apparently worthless living story updates are more important than challenging permanent content etc…

So, no. Want dungeon tokens? Do dungeons. I don’t go around asking if I can exchange my Arah tokens for glory or Badges of Honor either. I don’t care if it’s 1,000,000 karma/token, NO.

I’d say yes to this.

However, add the requirement that you have to complete Story Mode and all of the Explorable paths in order to unlock this feature for each individual dungeon, in order to show you have actually done them.

Lol dude 70 million karma for a dungeon set id be dead already before i get that number. The suggestion isint bad but it punishes people that do dungeons . I mean if u have a full set of arah that means u know the paths and stuff but some random people will have the same set just because they zerged the events so id say no for this
its fairly easy to get tokens in my opion , they have to make a good use for karma but certainly not in this way.

Karma is a broken currency. There is no way to reconcile the massive amounts hoarded by long term players and amounts available to new players.

Shouldn’t that be dungeon tokens for karma? Not karma for dungeon tokens.

Anyway, no, no it would not be a good idea in any way. The point of dungeon tokens is that you get them from doing dungeons and the result is getting the dungeon reward for that dungeon that you want.

Instead of getting some variable reward at the end of the dungeon you get tokens to define what you actually want to receive. This is a good system. Karma is received from everything. I currently have 2 million plus karma sitting around collecting dust with nothing to do with it. Just because it’s worthless, though, doesn’t mean I should be allowed to put it toward collecting something I haven’t earned.

They need to find uses for Karma, this, however, is not one of them.

Hahah yes, complete backwards on the title there, and I didn’t even notice! Thanks for the fix. Anyway, just come back holidays to revive this

One point I missed out is that I considered it similar to the Guild Wars 1 method of putting the vendor/exchanger at the END of the dungeon only. Much like the armor vendors in GW1 only being positioned in the completion zone, you would only have access to the Karma -> Dungeon token exchanger once you had completed the dungeon.

It feels like this would encourage people to complete dungeons, gain some reward for doing so, but not require repeated runs to fulfill a goal. Maybe split different armor-piece vendors into different paths so you’re required to complete each path for a full armor set while relieving the need for grindy-repeats, just by supplementing the rewards using karma gained during dynamic events.

That is, you are rewarded for fully completing a dungeon, not for completing it numerous times.
