Its a real bumber to throw away your hard earned weapon or armor simply because you want a change of flavor. I want to transmute the priory greatsword skin onto my AC greatsword, without having to destroy it as i like the AC appearance too.

I cant come up with any valid reason off the top of my head as to why the item has to be destroyed in the process, it takes away from the collecting aspect of the game. I dont think its reasonable to have to buy two or more of every spec/stat type my char wants to wear just so I can have diff apearances.

If anyone can come up with some valid points as to why the item must be destroyed in the process do share.

You don’t break any of them… you merge the two things. It makes sense to me tbh, and I am completely unbothered by it.

Yes you only get to keep one of the appearances and stats when transmuting, thus losing one of the desired weapon appearance, could also refer to it as breaking, merging would mean the stats from both weapons are added together.

I just think destroying part of a hard earned weapon/armor is a bad way to handle appearance changing.

I was pretty fond of the appearance system in Everquest 2. You simply have “appearance slots”, where you can equip any armor you normally could. No stats would be applied, only appearance overriding.

This is how it was in warhammer online, simple yet perfect. I’m ok with using transmutation stones, just hate throwing an item away.

Item sinks are extremely necessary in any game economy, as new items keep coming, the old ons are taken out of the market and from player’s possession, keeping demand up and inflation down.

This is one of such item sinks. It destroys 3 items to get you one.

Any other mmo ive played had strong economy and you get to to keep all the items youve earned and still have a custom appearance. Its not a matter of upgrading, its a matter of collecting.

I think they should adopt a skins unlock system, similar to how the dye system works. Once you’ve unlocked a skin, you can apply it whenever you want. Unlocking a skin would likely need to occur when an item is equipped (so your first one is soulbound.)
