I’ve always liked mini games in Guild Wars. Several times top 100 in Rollerbeetle, loved dragon arena, snowball fights, costume brawl etc…
Comes Guild Wars 2 with the new costume brawl, the jumping puzzles, the bell mini game… all of these are awesome, really fun.
And then there’s the keg brawl. It has potentials, basically a game on ice with norns and drunkard fighting for a drink… Well… it’s rugby. How cool is that?!
However, there are two real problems: no way to fight with a party of your own against others, just like in sPvP where you can join random games AND team up for tournaments.
And the other: lobbing. I mean… really? In my opinion, it’s a glitch. Was it an intention from the developpers to be able to score from the other side of the map, thus destroying all teamplay, the necessity for pass between players… ?
The matches end up being: pick up the keg. Dodge. Lob. Score. Done. Ruins all the fun, and there’s nothing you can do against it.
A good fix would be to limit the range of the skill. Easy.
And to those saying “Duh, it’s in the game, use it, u be 2 stoopid”, no, thanks. Abusing glitched skills is not my cup of tea. Scoring should result of a good usage of your brain, skills and teamwork, not zoom your camera, point it up and throw.
