It might be a good idea to know exactly what your talking about before you respond to a post. This keeps you from looking foolish. The majority of the Buttons didn’t come from the TP, very few were random drops and only these were trade-able. The rest were account bound. These are the ones that he is talking about selling as they were not even sell-able to merchants. However that ship sailed a while ago. I doubt many people held on to very many.

Right. I didn’t even realise he meant the ones you trade for from the vendor/voting booth.
Why did I not realise?
Because once you traded the support token in for a rep button, you added +1 to the vote for that candidate, your original support token had served its purpose of allowing you to vote.
What OP and yourself are hinting at, is that people should of been allowed to vote, and then sell the rep button, which I find highly illogical.
People who had left over support tickets, due to not being able to use them in time, had an item that did not serve its purpose in the end. Once you traded it in, its use was finished.

I have more than one of each because I didn’t know I wouldn’t be able to do anything with them once the living story ended. I actually took part and used the item for its purpose. Now I can’t sell them. Whereas someone who just happened to collect a bunch and didn’t turn any in was able to profit.
That’s all I was trying to point out; that it’s almost as if I am being penalized (by not being able to sell my buttons) for participating.
