well the problem is the integrated Graphics card, for 45 dollars you can go out and buy a graphics card that will fix your problem.

Hope that helps

Do you know what an integrated graphics card is? If he’s playing on a laptop, which it sounds like he is (and even if not, I think), it’s not so simple as removing your integrated graphics card and replacing it with a new one.

The integrated cards on intel chips are built into the cpu and do not occupy an actual slot on the motherboard. If it is a desktop, then you can pop in any graphics card and go into bios to switch it over.

Do you know what an integrated graphics card is? It’s one built into your CPU, typically, or occasionally elsewhere on the motherboard, so it’s never as simple as removing your integrated graphics card. ;-)

To the OP: there might be some optimization that ArenaNet can do along the way to help the game perform a little better, but your best bet is:

1) If you have a desktop, look for a relatively inexpensive graphics card. For the price of about four months sub-fee in those “other” MMOs, you can get something that should help your performance quite a bit.

2) If you’re on a laptop, there’s not much you (or ArenaNet) can do. While some laptops are pretty well equipped for modern games, it’s just a weak point of laptops. They aren’t designed to play high-end 3D games, which is what GW2 is.

Really cause my PC came with an Integrated Graphics card before I upgraded to another one. you simply tell the CPU that the primary GC is the new one not the on board one. I understand you statement as far as Laptop in which case your kind of SOL, which is another reason I go with Desk tops for gaming rather than laptops, but before you try and Tell someone you can not remove an integrated GC from a Motherboard be sure your information is correct.

This is exactly what I suggested, On board GC are great for your everyday use and youtube surfing needs, but on a general note they are not great for Online games. Like I stated before you can pay roughly 45 dollars for a GC that will run GW on Low settings with no problems. Or you can spend upwards to 120 and more for something that will run it on High.

Also be aware that the more expensive and higher end your GC you get might also mean a new power supply. When I updated my PC’s GC I also had to up date the Power supply. In all I think I spent $280.00 dollars to do the full upgrade. With the lower end GC’s more than likely the power supply you have will be fine. If your really not sure about how the specs work ask someone at Fry’s or Best buy or your local computer store. Show them the game you want to play then say this is what I want to run it on ( high ) and they will show you your options.

I wasn’t trying to start a flame war or anything, I was just making certain that you understood that intergrated chips for laptops are bad deals (which you do understand).

I am not either but your not reading the post

this is what you qouted form me

you seem to miss

  • I understand you statement as far as Laptop in which case your kind of SOL*

you also stated that,

Do you know what an integrated graphics card is? If he’s playing on a laptop, which it sounds like he is (and even if not, I think), it’s not so simple as removing your integrated graphics card and replacing it with a new one

Do you know what an integrated graphics card is?
Yes I do, it is a GC that is built into the Motherboard and takes up not PCI or any other type of up-gradable slot

If he’s playing on a laptop, which it sounds like he is , it’s not so simple as removing your integrated graphics card and replacing it with a new one

If he is playing on a Laptop he is SOL as I stated before.

if he is not then he is on a Desktop in which case your statement is not correct, as you can replace a Integrated GC on a Desktop with a plug and play model and just tell the CPU the default GC is X

(which you do understand)
So to clarify I do understand what you are saying, I hope my break down of he conversation helps you see why I retorted the way I did.

I quoted all of that in my response because I was too lazy to snip out the portion that I was specifically responding to. But, if you insist on being that exact…

…but before you try and Tell someone you can not remove an integrated GC from a Motherboard be sure your information is correct.

My information regarding this, was, for the most part, correct. In laptops with integrated chipsets it is nigh impossible to remove them. Not entirely and not always impossible, but nigh most often. I said nothing about PCs with certainty.

in the game system reqs says this:

“Due to potential changes, system requirements may change over time, and you may be required to upgrade your current system (or obtain a new system) to continue to play the game”

so, no lower graphics for you, sorry

yet your response was presumptive, as I already stated that there was nothing you could do about a laptop, my comment was in part to the PC side.

As your comment specifically stated that laptops were a lost cause and then went into Desktops. Ergo my response

If you know alot about computers then you could easily get a soldering gun, some lead, and replace the integrated graphics card and other parts, :P.

It wouldn’t matter, his CPU isn’t fast enough to do GW2 any better. Even if he could change the GPU on his laptop, it’d just be like a really awesome interactive slideshow.

So, overclock that sucker to the minimum recommended specs if you can, that’s your only option except to buy another computer.
