Currently I have an HP computer HDX 16 Intel Duo Proccessor with a Nvidia GeForce GT 130 M

Im barley running Guild Wars, it runs but when it comes to WvW and the large events I get into trouble. Its playable but I certainly want to play it much better then I am.

So time for a new laptop. I don’t care too much about price im hoping for the 1000-1500 range. I would like a laptop though I know that an actual PC would probably be better but I tend to travel a bit.

I do like HP but everyone I’ve talked to say they are not ment for games. They have suggested Acer or Alien Ware. I plan to buy at Best Buy. Anyone have any suggestions? I read about the new Nvidia GTX 660. Im not very knowlegable about computer lingo so any suggestions that would be simple to understand would be appreshiated.

I would avoid all 3 of those brands like the plague, and not buy at best buy. Sorry, haha. But you’ll pay more and have to deal with a bunch of Best buy crap. If i we’re you, I would buy the Asus G75 from amazon. Asus makes amazing products, ive had no problems with my G73 so far over the years, and buying from Amazon is always easy, really.

Here ya go!

I only plan on playing Guild Wars 2. Im not a big PC gamer I just want to run Guild Wars 2 a lot better then I already am. I mainly do PS 3 and Guild Wars 2 that is really it. So I don’t need a super computer. It would be nice for sure but still need something that I can do word proccessor with as well as normal buisness computer functions.

Well this can do all that of course two…its not like if you get a gaming computer it ONLY works for gaming. I actually love the bigger size of this computer for typing papers and stuff, works well.

Don’t get an Alienware, I had a 17x before this one and the thing felt like it was on life support since I got it. It had some kind of proprietary control center hardware that was the first to kitten out and from there it just got worse, I had to revert to factory settings and update all drivers every two months to keep the thing stable until it just started Blackscreening.

Best screen and speaker quality I’ve seen on laptops though.

I’m using an older Asus Republic Of Gamers model, one of the 17inch ones. I bought it for around 1.4k and it’s tons more stable, has a better chassis so you could theoretically upgrade it, and at the time was on-par with more expensive Alienware systems. The only tradeoff is that the screen is a bit too white-washed, and the speakers suck, but it’s not a problem for me as I use a headset.

Yhea I have a really nice Razer headset and I saw that the Asus Aeson suggested did seem to have some audio problems and not be the best on speakers. I still would like to shop around a bit but certinly thanks for the info. Sounds like Asus is pretty good. I have no real history with them. All i have owned is Dell and HP. Im done with Dell as too many have broken down on me. My HP is really reliable and has been good for 5 years without any problem. Its just not for gaming. I plan on playing Guild Wars 2 for a long while and interested in the new Neverwinter. Deffinitly a new computer is needed.

I’m having a simular problem- however I don’t have nearly the price range. I need a laptop which can run GW2 reasonably (medium graphics would be nice) but the most important factor is that it holds up in WvW. Currently in any battle with 5+ people I drop to an fps of 3-4 (running the game on lowest settings). MY maximum I could spend would be about 600 pounds stirling. (Just under 1000 American dollars). I play most games on a PS3 however I would be using this laptop for GW2, Planetside and potentially other pc exclusives.
