Larcenous Builds = killed...no pressure
Larcenous Strike: This skill now steals only 1 boon.
need i QQ more…no more support builds to pressure mobs/enemies in spvp..
thief cannot take on a guardian with all the buffs now…

or post other suggestions
gg, you killed it… it was underpowered as it was, not overpowered.
How so? It costs a measly 2 initiative points? Granted Guardians can shrug it off better now, but most classes don’t have boons galore like they do.
I troll because I care

1 boon….only 1 boon, and majority of the time its an insigificant boon to rip off -_- requiring spam to peel off his multiple layers…

Maybe, I dunno, Anet figured that it’s not right to have a build that can effectively steal all boons from a build.
It’s not a skill that you’re supposed to spam to cripple your enemy. Use it well to counter the important things like Protection. Not like you can’t use Bountiful Theft.
Heck, you should be glad that it’s still an actual boon steal and not just a boon rip.
let alone ignore the evading part and dmg part of this attack and complain about 1 boonstrip less.

It costs 5 initiative, because you have to first spend 3 initiative (and 1/2 sec) on Flanking Strike just to have access to LS. Not exactly spammable.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Initiative cost is actually 5, as Seras said. It is only spammable if you divert significant resources to initiative regeneration, which means detracting from other utilities and damage sources. Furthermore to even access this skill you have to use sword/dagger, which means you lose out on all the great skills offered by sword/pistol and dagger/dagger. Large scale boon stripping is not a foreign thing as demonstrated by the Mesmer skill Null Field, which very quickly nukes every boon within a small radius. I see no problem with Thieves having a strong boon strip of their own. It’s very helpful against certain enemies in PvE, notably Dredge. All this nerf has accomplished is removing yet another PvE niche use of Thieves. At this point Thieves need all the help they can get.
Thieves are supposed to be sneaky and underhanded, yes? Let them.

except pistol whip is nerfed as well -_- cant ger a flurry off and hit all swings now.. only 2 swings… yet a mesmer can teleport, and get an immobilize off and still get all swings off…give or take you havent an immobilize removal, should be balanced to lower the immobilize if OUR stun from pistol whip is lowered.
Ahh, my bad on the initiative cost. I didn’t realize it was a chain skill.

I’m not sure what you mean. Pistol Whip hasn’t been changed in a very long time. It’s still a great all-in-one skill, an interrupt-evade-spike. When it hits multiple foes with Signet of Malice equipped it heals you for almost half of your HP. Very good skill overall. But this thread isn’t about Pistol Whip, it’s about Larcenous Strike.

im quite sure i made the thread… and PW is nerfed…check the stun time on it since the change.
The stun time has not changed, it’s just that the stun sigil has been un-bugged. The skill has functioned as more of an interrupt anyway since the evasion phase comes afterwards which somewhat diminishes the importance of the stun except to force the target to take the subsequent damage.
They killed 50% of its use, and kept the old cost. There was nothing right with that.
Also thief is, well a thief. They don’t have a whole lot of boons to give themselves, LS was the one thing that made up for that. Now, we spend 5 initiative to MAYBE steal 1 boon, because it wasn’t exactly a guaranteed hit. It was unblockable, can still miss or be dodged. You made a great skill and nerf it twice now with nothing in return.
Please revert its 2 boons or reduce the cost of LS to 1 intiative. There is no justification for nerfing it 2X when all thief gets is nerfs. This last patch fixed more bugs on thief than it buffed them. BUG FIXES, NOT BUFFS. The only good buff thief got was making blinding powder a blast finisher, otherwise it was pathetic.
Still offer crappy support (venoms are still bad, no way to share boons), still have limited defensive options (stealth, dodge), and still have weak condi removal (stealth, evades). The change to body shot was meaningless, and buffing 1 trait (lotus poison) didn’t change anything.
break. I feel like they should be back by now..”

IS any dev reading this and talking this over for next patch?….cuz if not i feel we lost alot of thieves….not all, but alot…we feel cornered…i dont want to play d/p the entire time, i actually want a roaming build…with support…i dont see how venom share is support when a warrior is gonna get my venoms and not do any damage with them…
Make venom share share condition damage and duration during the uptime of the venom charges already!!!!
im glad this was nerfed. thieves are still incredibly strong, just not as much to boon heavy builds. so whats the matter, you want to be able to gank any and every class with ease as a roamer in wvw?
first off all Lithril, if you look at the sticky you see anet claiming to read all suggestions.
The second thing is that you have to keep in mind that they changed the guardian trait pure of voice so it only removes one condition any more. This means guardians are much more sensitive to condition nowadays. So the other skills off the sword/dagger combo are all being buffed when facing a warrior.
Thiefs where and still are very OP competitive gameplay. but yip you lost a bit of capacity to always win.
Maybe instead of going here and crying bout how unfair it is, you should think bout how you can turn things in your favor again. Thiefs are still very balanced and powerfull and I know a few ways of making very good use off a sword/dagger build, specially against guardians.
There is a mechanic in PvP MMO’s called flavor of the month. It goes like this.
A: a smart person finds a combination of stats/gear/skills/traits that is pretty succesfull.
B: other people see that this person is very succesfull and start copying it
C: other people get annoyed by being killed all the time and are trying to find counters to that specific combination.
D: It goes back to A with next months flavor.
A combination of stats gets OP when it stays flavor of the month for too long and is in need of balancing. Thiefs really needed to be balanced and to be honest anet didn’t do enough yet. But please judge this recent skillbalance as a whole and dont pick one element out. Guardians got picked on as well and so does many other classes. See it as a whole and see how you can be on top of the flavor off the month and be the smart guy.
Also consider this. In GW1 I had a sin build I developed mostly on my own and that was really OP. I never shared it with anyone and kept it for myself. This resulted in a a situation I have used this build for several years succesfull. I am pretty sure that if I would have shared, it would have become flavour of the month and people would start bringing the one skill that could counter it. Cause nobody knew my ‘secret’ and cause i only played casual PvP (so never high ranking), it wasn’t an issue and my build lasted for a long time. So how could you utilize this balance of skills to be good again??
Good luck figuring that out
