As a guild leader, it is obviously important for me to keep an active community. Having people in the guild who never log in doesn’t help that. Not knowing who those people are makes it even worse.

I propose/suggest adding a column (or perhaps a hover tooltip) in the guild roster that displays how long it has been since each member logged on…and, if possible, also show when they last represented.

There are actually a ton of great guild suggestions in the sticky thread at the top of the forum, including this suggestion.

I agree, it’s much needed. Along with several other things.

This would really help us out also. I’m in one of the larger guilds and we’re trying to figure out a way to consolidate our 4 guilds that won’t involve having to re-invite a bunch of folks and that won’t drive our guild leadership crazy.

I am with Kuzzi! Much needed improvements in the guild system functions!

I would have thought that the guild system would have been much better in a game called “Guild” Wars…..

We need larger guild cap if ppl are allow to represent multiple guilds.
We need the ability to form larger groups like /raid for guild events.
We need to be able to create custom chat channels or alliance chat channels
We need a better MotD broadcasting/editing/feed system
We need guild noticifation “Noobie joined the guild”
We need officer chat but custom chat channels would be better

so many features that guilds could benefit from that I am forgetting a bunch.

thats all for now……..Ciao and Cheerio

Agreed at the very least we need a “last online”, “last represented” would be awesome too.

Been asking for this since the beta pointing out that they had this in GW1 and obviously did not do a sufficient gap analysis when they started building GW2 but as always this falls on deaf ears, i.e. Anet dev ears.

Has anyone noticed recently, that now there are a lot of members listed as “unknown” in the guild roster?

This seems to indicate some form of inactivity notice but as Anet do not seem to have announced this anywhere, I’m not sure if that is accurate. For the time being I am removing members listed as “unknown” and recruiting new members.

I would really like this future as well. We are in a large community guild, it is hard to manage with over 350 members to see which are active.

Thank you in advance.

My gaming org that is very large and has been forced to use multiple guilds has a big problem with this. We know there is some long term inactivity but cant nail it down. Its very sad what more people could be playing together but are being separated by maxed out member numbers of people who are no longer there.

Please let us see last online and by account.

We definitely need improved guild management tools.

“Last online” and/or “last represented” would help us eliminate inactive members, which is especially important for large guilds where the member cap is an issue and has forced the guild to break into smaller guilds. Without any kind of custom chat channel or alliance chat, it’s can be isolating particularly if you have a few people in one guild who play at off hours or who end up in a ‘segment’ where a lot of people are inactive.

Custom chat / alliance chat channels would also be fantastic!
As would a larger guild cap…
And the ability to form groups larger than 5 for WvW or larger guild events…

Well, I get why every guild leader is asking for this feature. (Was there anyone who isn’t a guild leader / officer above me?)

But in the end, the majority of players are guild members. To be honest, I was somewhat glad that there is no “last seen online” on the guild rosters. I mean, I play alot, but that column causes more trouble than good in my opinion.
In GW1, we had a bunch of guilds that kicked you immediately if you weren’t logged in during the period of 7 days. That wasn’t really too much fun for a guild member. And not necessarily fun for guild leaders either. I mean, there is certain pressure to appear “active” guild if you’re not too large.

Of course, if that last online -column was something that only the guild leader could see, the pressure on guild leaders to kick inactive players would vanish. Meaning easier time for guild members as well as guild leaders. So if there are really large guilds who actually need this feature, it wouldn’t mess up the smaller guilds.

Bottom line: If its going to be added, have a permission option in the guilds rank-system to allow only certain ranks see the column. Or just show it only to the guild leader, nobody else really needs it anyways.

People who can argue often offer a good and meaningful conversation about the subject.

I’m just a rank and file member and I would like to see this column. If you’re worried about getting unfairly kicked for inactivity/not-representing, maybe you’re in the wrong style of guild?

Here we have a guild member that fully gets it because members want to be in a active guild. Especially in GW2 where activity earns influence for the guild that it can in turn spend on buffs for the guildies.

So Pandemoniac is correct Fred Fargone, perhaps you are in the wrong kind of guild^^

I know people want to be in an active guild, however, this creates issues that I believe ANet foresaw which is the reason the column isn’t there in the first place.

Since people want to be in an active guild, it creates pressure for guild leaders to kick people who aren’t active enough. In GW1, this usually was considered 1 or 2 weeks. However, I like to travel on my summer break for around a month, which has gotten me kicked from a guild I’ve been with for the whole year and which was perfectly suitable for me.

I did not find that fun. (GW2 is all about fun, remember? ^^)

And therefore, I was just pointing out that the column, if it is to be implemented, should only be shown to the guild leader(/officers) in order to ease that pressure.

People who can argue often offer a good and meaningful conversation about the subject.
People who can’t tend to call the opponent troll, scream something utterly incomprehensible

Becareful with the “/signed” thing, ANET have have closed threads before saying “Petitions are against our rules”.

This must have been one of the things they forgot about in the rush to meet the release day, but I am AMAZED it hasn’t been included. From what I can see, there is absolutely no reason why it shouldn’t be added. As for Fred , I’m sure a simple message to your guild leader would have stopped you getting banned.

The way guilds I’ve been in handle that is that you notify the leadership that you’re going to be away for a while, but intend to return. If the guild can’t accommodate an extended summer holiday they’re not the type of folks I want to play with.

I still think if you’re worried about folks judging your activity level, you haven’t found a good fit.

I agree you need to find a properly organized guild. One that allows 2 or 3 weeks inactivity unless the person has already told them that they will be away for a while. Usually good guilds have a forum for you to post intended absence on.

I would like an A.Net representative to comment here and let us know if this was an intended design decision or if this is something they are considering implementing in the [near?] future.

I would also like to re-state, being a guild leader, that I would VERY much like to see this implemented ASAP. There are several “Unknowns” in my guild and I would like to know what is up with them, in addition to serving other functions.

Yes, there are some much needed changes and additions needed for Guilds. This one is high up there.
I do hope Anet have something in the works.

To Fargone, I understand your stance as well mate, but as others have said, a good guild member who respects his fellow guildies, would notify someone that he will be taking some time away from the game for whatever reason. A good Guild would then make sure he/she was not kicked.

I agree…this change is needed very badly. I’m in a guild with 442 members…and lucky to have 10 of them ever on-line. My bet is that at least 75 – 85% of the members have been inactive for a long time.
