After I quit wow I played Rift and enjoyed it while I waited for gw2. It had its share of pros and cons, but the best thing that Trion did with this game is something guild wars should consider. It is how they handled bots and report.

While running around the world you would occasionally see a message on the map chat saying “so and so has been banned for botting” usually the person you saw getting banned was someone that no less then 5 minutes before you had reported. I have read your sticky thread that disappeared and was locked and it said that 1600 bots were banned in one week. In a 40 hour work week that’s only 40 per hour…. I could spot you more then 40 right now if you gave me 10 minutes in cursed shore on my server. What Trion showed is that they had an actually GM somewhere on the server and he would see the reports analyze the reported and spot that is a bot, because its not that hard to notice. As a player i knew it was being handled by the message, it really gave me a good opinion on the people running the game. Please consider what I have wrote and look at what other games have done, because this game has more bots then any retail game and even private servers I have played on.

Just to add I enjoy Guild Wars 2 more than any MMO I have played, I think that it is a worth while game to play and enjoy. I do believe you have your methods of dealing with bots and reporting, I just think that there are other methods you could look explore.

I second this posting. I believe GW2 is a fantastic game. I played GW1, and you guys have made an avid supporter out of someone who hated your first game. well done. your creativity and innovation are not just commendable, but really (IMHO) an advancement in the entire MMO universe. so far, the sole issue I have run int in this game that I feel can be administratively remedied is the bots. they are easy to spot in game, due to their behavior. anyway, I think this idea is spot on. I think the Rift community benefited from the attention the admins payed to the individual servers, and I think your game would benefit from the show of attention. in short, we as players just want to know (read see it happen) that something is being done.

thank you for a fantastic game, and keep up the good work.

I would have to agree with the bot problem atm. It’s become a problem with the world that arena.net has built. I haven’t seen a change in the bot areas for Karma, or framing mats. There is an article by Tom Chick that I just read on gamespy about this very problem.

Not sure if we can post a link to another site, but I think the team at arena.net should take a look. The article also mentions the offensive names of guilds and players.
