Guild Wars 2

So, I Was running through fractals last night on my thief, and swapped from my dagger/dagger to sword/dagger for one particular section which I wanted the immobilize for.

As I was running along something seemed… wrong. The sword wasn’t where I expected it to be. When it hit me, I loudly proclaimed in Vent “Oh my god I’m right handed!!!” Much to the amusement to all present.

I’ve always thought my character left handed. I don’t know why (I’m right handed myself) But it was just always a Thing. Ya know, something I took for granted. And now I’ve learned that it was all a lie. It’s… unnerving.

I can imagine the technical fiasco that this would cause, probably not worth it, probably something I’ll never see, but I wanted to let the powers that be know, that it is something that I would very much love to find in game.

I would like to see this to as a left handed person my self why cant my toons be the same?
Its weird how in a game that makes you want to play your own way but yet your toons are always right handed. Is there no left handed people in Tyria?

I’m pretty sure Tybalt is right handed and uses a robot hand in place of his missing right paw

Making left-handed characters would involve quite a bit more redesigning of all ten player base models (more than just mirror flipping the character model, but I’m sure most of you knew that), and probably a revamp of the customization in general, so I doubt it’ll actually happen due to the amount of time it would require. It would be cool though if ANet was willing to implement left-handedness. Oh, and a sidebar; Asura engineers toss grenades with their left hand, which makes them seem somewhat left-handed when using the grenade weapon kit; not sure if any other races are animated like this.

This is a bit of a dilemma. On one hand it’d be nice for people who want to make a lefty. On the other, a big part of PvP is based in identifying weapon sets and certain sets like P/D and D/P on Thieves play completely different.

This suggestion has come up in every MMO I have played over the last 20 years. In that time they have never even attempted to change it.

I would love it myself since in RL I am left-handed, but unfortunately this is one of those things that will never change.
