Legendary Pistols. Yes, note the plural.
I agree that there should be 2 legendary pistols to chose from, however I disagree that they should be paired as 1 item, or given as a buy one get one half price deal.
It wouldn’t be fair to all the other 1handed legendaries.
It’s not the same as a huge two handed greatsword. If you put in the massive effort to get one pistol of a “set” of items, then it shouldn’t be much harder to get the other one. Even if it’s just the precursor and some Gift items. Shouldn’t take another million karma and 100 gold to get the offhand. IMO, the idea is that the two together would make up one legendary pair of weapons that are intended to be used together. Still lots of work to get, but not TWICE as much as a two-handed weapon. That is the huge turn off for 1H legendaries.

Then what about Maces? Swords? Axes? Daggers? All of those can be combined with each other, or with another weapon or a sidearm.
Same with the pistol. So if we’re talking about making one easier or cheaper, you have to do it for all of them. And guess what? That’s gonna piss off anyone who’s using a scepter, as that is the only 1h weapon that cannot be dual-wielded. Oh and you’ll also piss off anyone who is using two different 1h weapons, as I suppose those wouldn’t get the benefit at all. And of course, you would piss off everyone who’s not using a 1h weapon at all. So in effect, you would piss off everyone except the people who dual wield one weapon type.
Unfortunately, the combinations that you can do are so numerous that there’s really no way to implement a system that would be fair for everyone.

2h legendaries should require more materials to make, or make 1h legendaries require less. Doesn’t make much sense that a small dagger needs as much materials to make as a 2h, when you most likely will want 2 of those daggers.

You could easily take the word legendary out of this post and it would still be a valid point regarding weapons. I’d also be comfortable with replacing “materials to make” with “cost.”

I think it’s fine as it is.
If you halve the costs, you end up with 1-handed weapons being more cost effective because they deal identical damage but only cost 50%. If you halve the damage, you end up with the one-handed weapons being 50% weaker with 50% the cost. But that’s not fair, because that would result in combining MH/OH weapons dealing 50% of the damage of 2-handed weapons.
And besides, the weapon that you choose is exactly that: your decision.
Though, you could do something with the skins. For example, make it so that if you’re dualwielding two weapons of the same type (D/D, S/S, M/M, P/P), you get the option to use any combination of their respective skins. That is, if you have a Legendary and an Exotic, you get the option to show either their native skins, two of the Exotic skins or two of the Legendary skins. Of course, the skins are not transmuted, like when you use a transmutation stone, but rather they’re just a while-equipped option, not different from the helm and shoulder armor toggled we get. For example, you could make it so that when you’re dual-wielding, you get two of those tick boxes, with the left one indicating the MH skin and the right one indicating the OH one.

Thank you voice of reason. Those of you saying “no it’s fine the way it is” are probably already happy with what you have and want to keep the distribution low. Understandable, but the system is broken, not fair.
It should be very hard to get, but it shouldn’t be twice as hard to rig up something for 1h. This punishes 1h users. Probably why everyone wants a kitten greatsword
EDIT: Ilya & Lyss are what prompted this thread. Obviously some thought went into making a weapon “pair”. They’re not legendary though. Should I seriously spend the time and effort to get those two, at over 100g a piece, for them not to scale with the game like the legendaries do? It’s simpler to just get chaos gun and skin it onto something you use and cheaper too. Sadly, that won’t scale either. But AT LEAST it costs half as much, for now.
