Here are some ideas my guild came up with~please share your ideas for anything mechanical that could be possibly implemented!
MOAT: Would be interesting to have an upgrade option for a moat around certain towers. The moat, like anything would take supply and workers would actually begin to dig a moat for a preliminary line of defense.
It would appear once finished as a broad ditch, either dry or filled with water, or maybe even fire, that surrounds a castle. If it even was just a sharp drop off it would be a nice defensive strategy as invaders would have to perhaps jump across at a wide distance. If you fall in you would have to get out by jumping out of it, which would be made slightly difficult by puzzle like jump points sticking out of the inside.
If these were water moats, the moats would slow attackers down and be at risk of being hit easier while crossing.
If it was something like fire then of course perhaps this is a hard upgrade to get. Players that fall in receive burn damage.
ARMORED BRIDGE: in opposition to the moat, a type of siege would be an armored bridge. Players could build a bridge using supply. The Armored Bridge would be constructed as a tunnel like bridge with armor protecting players inside from ranged. Players could build the bridge to cross moats, or simply anywhere that a strategy could be devised. Players could play games of attrition, using the armored bridges to gather outside of keeps. The Bridges could even be constructed using multiple bridges to create long secure tunneling. Imagine building one long enough to protect dolyak supply lines. The bridges could be destroyed by enough fire power and enemies can enter them. Also, the bridges wouldn’t be allowed inside of keeps.
SIEGE LADDERS: Basically Ladders built with supply outside of keep walls. Once built, players can scale the walls of keeps for entry to attack from within without gates being knocked down. The ladders however perhaps break after an agreed amount of usage. They would probably have to be about as easy to destroy as an arrow cart.
LEGENDARY GOLEM: Once built the Legendary Golem becomes it’s own MOVING POINT COLLECTING TOWER for the world that built it! The Golem would be essentially a moving tower that has to be destroyed as it collects points for the world as long as it exists! It would act as a bonus for any world able to build them. It is massive enough to fit people inside, and on top of it—think trojan horse but trojan golem. It would move fairly slow but have windows for ranged to shoot from. It could continually be repaired and can also provides supply which can be used to transfer supply to other keeps.
Structurally, the golem would be pretty massive—but not too massive, considerable to the old lions arch lion statue. The way it looks could go in different directions. Two we thought of were:
1.) A giant dolyak design. Sort of alluding to the trojan horse again but keeping it gw2. It could be of assuran design or perhaps even charr—being more industrial. The user would be in the head, and could hold players inside it’s belly or on a platform on the back.
2.)A giant assuran design with traditional humanoid form. Basically it would be one stout golem similar to the ones we have now, perhaps crossed with that of a giant Rook. So you have this huge moving squarish golem with legs and arms—the legs are two huge feet that are hinged underneath the massive body, the giant arms are attached to two shoulders which act as platforms which connect to a main platform on top which is behind the golems head and neck—which pops out of the front of the body giving it a lurched sort of look. You enter a point in the feet and have a room inside with windows for shooting out and again stairs to get to the top platform.
The user would sit inside the head of these golems, your view would be scaled back to see entire golem. The user would have a new action bar with abilities that could be:
1. to move, you can’t move conventionally, and have to move by use of 1 ability. this would have a cooldown and couldn’t be used with the second ability. This is for balance as you have to sacrifice fighting for moving, and also speed buffs or portals will not work. You can go anywhere you want on map and this is strategic, as you could try to attack keeps with it but be bombarded by siege or attempt to secure or hide it.
2 unique attack ability that is also up in the air. I was thinking it would be cool to spawn gollum attack drones that act as guards for nvaders attacking the structure. also, you are able to spawn gollum drones that will protect the surrounding perimeter of your gollum, but there would be a cooldown and a cap on the ammount of drones you have. Also the drones would have life similar to npc guards.
attacking this thing would be as fun as using it. As you have to kill players defending it, players shooting atop of it, and the gollum drones protecting it.
