Let ANY PROFESSION use ANY WEAPON...
The chances are pretty high that they’ll add new weapons and allow professions to use more weapons instead of adding new professions.
Why add a Druid when you can give a Ranger a staff?
Then they’d have to make new skills, in GW1 everyone could use every weapon yes, but they all had to select a few skills that EVERYONE could use. No class in GW2 has the same skills.
This is the best ideia ever, thanks for posting it even before i do!

not to mention the amount of skills elementalists would get xD
yes, also remove all armour restrictions and allow us to switch race and class whenever we want, take out leveling – if we leveled to 80 once we dont need to do it again.
take out waypoint costs, infact just remove every and any restriction in this game- make a button that we can just press once and we WIN!
Though it would be an awesome thing, I dont see this happening unfortunately in near future. They may however slowly add existing weps for other classes like lets say sword for elem, or staff for ranger (why not)
Maybe something for expansion idea. However I would say it would require using traits to make it happen.
Direngry, though i would personally love to see a druid class in GW2 (loved their implementation in WoW), what you say is the only thing that would bring us a druidesque class in the game. Seeing as lorewise all the druids have been dead for over 250 years, and with the sylvari able to commune and summon the ancient druid spirits, it seems the next logical step is to give rangers magical ranged weapons to bring them even closer to nature than they already are (sylvari aside of course).
as for the rest of the weapon sets for classes, some things stick out as a stretch:
thieves using magical weaponry of any sort. While their skills seem to lean towards the idea of denial magic (a discussion took place between me and i believe konig in the guild wars 2 guru forums about that matter), i doubt that their magical abilities would be potent enough to use shadow skills in that manner.
rangers using guns is too much of a stretch in my opinion, as rangers thoroughly respect nature to the point where they summon spirits to their aid. using guns would be a huge contrast to that, as guns are the very signature of destruction and pollution within this game. (though a counter point would be their liberal use of fire as a weapon against their enemies.)
for guardians, axes are a bit of a stretch, and guns even further, but there isnt anything that sticks out as too far beyond reason for them to use those weapons.
warriors shouldn’t have any trouble using any weapons, since in real life staves are used in melee combat all the time, it isnt too hard to imagine the same use in game.
engineers can gizmo the heck out of any weapon they desire, but i can imagine design limitations on that, considering that they’re not going to constantly pick up techy looking weapons (think steam powered mace or staves or such things as that). it would be interesting to see.
necromancers i can’t really see using guns. sure they can magically imbue weapon shots, but it’s a further stretch than i think could be possibly realised.
elementalists would have similar problems with guns, but i think that if they continue to go with the streak of “the weapon is simply a focus” then i think that would work effectively for the elementalist. though i would love to see some melee combat with dual swords or something.
mesmers have the problem that they are seen and percieved as too ‘fine’ to use cruder weapons such as maces and axes. and while i’d love to see mesmers liberally use guns, there’d be a big design problem with making guns "mesmery’ as opposed to turning the mesmer into a gun slinger with magic on the side. (as an aside, mesmers don’t necessarily seem against the use of such crude weapons, as the phantasmal warden uses dual axes.)
if all my worries could be checked into place, then i’d certainly be for all classes with all weapons.
edit: holy i didnt think it would be THAT long a post.
I don’t think thieves using warhorns would be the best idea logic-wise
Ohh guns and mages.. Please look at Gunmages from Warmachine (tabletop Strategy game).. What an awesome combination!

’Can I get a little milk with my dry cereal?"
“AND WHY DON’T I GET YOU A GOLD LEAF FOR IT TOO!”
They’ll add new weapons and new skills in time – waiting is probably the best, and I would prefer balancing the current weapons more rather then making a whole new slew of unbalanced weaponry and skills.
