Ranger pets, obviously… but that made a title too long for the forums.

This is, of course, of particular use in WvW, but I think it would be handy everywhere.

Just give the pets a small chance of detecting invisible monsters or players, every few seconds.

This is easy to tweak, by modifying the chance of detection, the interval of check, and even the animals this is possible with. You might limit it to pigs, for instance – Thieves taste like truffles!

Pigs-only, the more I think about it, is kinda nice. They’re a pretty useless pet, and it would allow thieves to spot, very easily, animals that are a threat to their cloaking.

I don’t play a ranger, and I know very little about how stealth works in this game, but this makes sense, thematically speaking.

My only gesture is that stealth tends to be a fairly brief mechanic, so the intervals for the pings would have to be pretty short. It’s not a terrible idea, but it’d be pure luck if the ping succeeded, and it’d have to be a quick reaction to utilize it. Really all this would counter is retreating folks.

So it would be less a sentry, and more a tracker.
