We should be able to pick Heart of the Mists as an option alternative to ‘Play’, or maybe a checkbox for sPVP / regular, that way
a) our armors would change to match our sPVP sets. As there are people who exclusively sPVP, they don’t want to constantly see their char as a lvl2 badly geared one.
b) Lets those same people skip loading the game, then going directly to sPVP which they would do anyways
c) lets those of us who are stuck on a loading screen load to a map that doesn’t crash us, so we can at least play our character instead of always crashing.

I agree with the armor bit. Would be nice to have a toggle to show PvP gear as opposed to PvE gear, since I have several characters more or less permanently trapped in ‘harlot’ armor, since I use them primarily for PvP. Not too big a deal, since it’s only me looking at it, but it’s still a little disheartening.

Having ‘Heart of the Mists’ at the character select screen would probably make more sense, since you could pick your character, then load them up straight into PvP from there. Wouldn’t be as helpful having it replace ‘Play’ since not everyone only uses one character for PvP. Otherwise, I totally agree with it.
