Leveling/Experience gains needs some tweaking
I concur. I too have been clearing the entire zone only to find that I am too under leveled and under powered for the next zone. Sure I can just go to another races area and do quests there but I really feel like I should not have to.
This is important for less experienced players as well. I talked my GF into playing GW2 and she is struggling with this at a very early level range already. Constantly getting killed by mobs while trying to clear hearts that are a few levels above her has left her with a sour taste in her mouth for GW2. She is not a hard core gamer nor does she have the twitch skills to circle strafe. She does good with even level mobs but because she is forced to do hearts over her level she is having a hard time.

Honestly, I feel story-line quests should grant more exp than they do currently. Enough to make a noticeable dent in the exp required to continue the story.

Neither should be required. I completed all four campaigns in GW1 without ever doing anything for the sake of being high enough level to complete a goal.
We do DEs as they pop up around us. But we tend to skip DEs that we have already done. I can only guard the same caravan so many times before I feel like I want to rip my eyes out. But we try to do all the ones that pop up when we hit a new zone. Neither of us are very into crafting and if we are forced to craft just to keep up with the level zone requirements then I have a big issue with this game.
Edit: I say we because we both do the same things. We solo play away from each other at the beginning of new games so she can get used to the game on her own. Else it becomes “Follow Slyxx and kill what he kills.” When we do that she doesn’t learn the game she is just a pet and feels like one.

I don’t think its possible to just go straight from 1-15 to 15-25 to 35-45, etc, etc, nor is it intended. There is a reason they didn’t make just one zone for each bracket. Lvl 12 and finished your starting zone? Good thing there are 4 more. It’s like that for pretty much the entire game. Zones aren’t designed to get you from the minimum lvl to the maximum lvl for the zone. If you’re ‘outpacing’ the content, do some crafting, DEs, or just move to a different zone in the same bracket. You never need to kill boars in the forest to lvl.

Good thing this isn’t GW1 then.

In guild wars 1 you could complete any mission without actually participating at all due to the fact that parties were just about required for most of them. The first guild I was in had run me to ascension before I even knew what that was, and most of that involved me killing myself at the beginning of the mission and eating a snack. It was a surreal, broken experience.

Why is that relevant? It was a good design decision then, and this is the suggestion forum.

When I played Prophecies it was with a 7 hero party and I could actually enjoy the content as it was designed. GW1 is proof positive that a game can be changed drastically from its release state for the better.
I think they want you to pace yourself in regard to the story as opposed to bum rushing it, which is analogous to their weapon skill unlocking system in that its only use is to acquaint you with one skill at a time so you know what you’re doing.
The story missions for asura at least usually occur in areas close to level appropriate, so I use them as indications for whether I should still be completing the area I’m in or moving on to the next one. If a story mission takes me out of the 1-15 area, then I’ll stop doing story and 100% complete the area before I move on.
