Leveling adjustment over done/under thought
You’re completely missing the point, the point of the game isn’t to level up, it’s to actually play the game. Leveling up shouldn’t make you stronger, it just opens more options to customize your play style.
The reason ur level matches the level of monsters is so that you can gain XP through kills, in other mmos XP can’t be gained from NPCs that are greyed. In a way this is better because it gives you more options of where to level. Sounds to me you just wanna kill champions or certain bosses solo so you can get to the chest. That’s not how this game works, get used to it.
You are singing to the choir Exstacy. I have been criticizing level scaling system for a while now. It should be removed all together. Any game with a level scaling system makes gaining levels in general irrelevant. This system should be trashed. The whole idea of stepping across a particular boundary cuts your levels from an 80 level character to a1-5 level character or anything in between is totally absurd. I hope more complaints of this nature arise so they will get the message. I am strongly considering scrapping this game entirely because of such idiotic game play.
Says the guy who wanna farm gear off the low level bosses since they. Drop loot that scales to your level. Give it up, this isn’t wow where ppl farm bosses, champions are meant to be a challenge that requires others, where as veterans can be solo’d with the right tactics. This is not wow where ppl farm bosses for loot. The game ain’t broken, you just stuck in your old ways as a soloist.
So somehow it would be more ‘fun’ to one shot maps if there was no leveling adjustment? I don’t understand what the OP is getting at.
Pluzoid your response is so far off it isn’t even funny. I never said a thing about WOW and have never played WOW nor do I have any intention of playing WOW. The fact is level scaling is not a logical concept in gaming. If you are level 50 (or you pick a level) and you worked your butt off to get there and then you step across a border and all of a sudden you are level 10….does that REALLY make any sense whatsoever? No. Level scaling negates having levels at all. All those people who cry about higher level people “taking all the events” (and I don’t condone this practice) are whiners. If they are harassing you in one area move on to another….they can’t be everywhere all the time….LOL. The fact is level scaling is the same thing as politicians wanting to re-distribute wealth….it may sound good but in the end it drags everyone down.

I know I am stuck as a soloist in PvE and I also only play a self imposed hard core death on myself for my PvE characters, it’s just what I like to do. I cry when my 2-3 week old toon gets 1 hit by a lower level enemy, so for me the leveling system sucks balls. In WvW I don’t mind dying or playing with others because it is expected as it is a pseudo PvP environment. But in PvE I am a loner, and always will be, I don’t want the hassle of finding a group of others I don’t know. This is why I spend 95% of my time in WvW with my Guild because I don’t have to worry about being down leveled or talking to stranges etc, I only have to worry about my toon’s gear.
In the aspect of leveling and having challenge to lower level areas there needs to be a medium. Granted the rewards have been stepped up for higher level characters playing lower level areas, but what is the logic behind gaining higher level armor and weaponry if it does not serve to protect you in low level areas? What is the logic of being any class level 70 character with level 70 armor and weapons to be killed by any single entity in a level 15-25 area? If you are drunk, or sleeping I could see it happening, but anyone with good game skills should survive. If you have just as difficult a time in lower level areas as higher level areas … what is the point of leveling? Just make everyone zero level. Ya no fun there. It is no fun dying by the hand of a level 17 Skritt if you are 50 levels higher than the Skritt either. The costs of armor repair do not go down with this dynamic leveling system either and or way point travel, so You are likely penalized even more if you die in a lower level area?
Traits are earned through leveling. Traits and armor is what makes you stronger.
This is so Anet can utilize the whole game for future content. They are not going to abandon old zones like other games have.

And you still gain nothing because of the level scaling. Level scaling makes all power boosting methods irrelevant whether it is traits, armor or levels. Level scaling needs to be removed. Period.

And the scaling system isn’t even absolute. Having a level80 exotic set is concretely better then a level50 masterwork set.
Players have done in-game comparisons. In a level10 area, the difference is almost double.
So you’re completely wrong about it making Leveling irrelevant.
