Guild Wars 2

Light armor needs hats. Right now most of what they have is masks, and masks suck. They don’t show up well, and they’re unexciting. Take a look at a mostly complete armor gallery:

Half of them are masks, the other half are hoods. When I think of a mage, I think of someone who wears a pointy hat. Sure, it is a bit cliche but shouldn’t we have that option? We could very easily lose all the masks but one, since they all look the same, but I’d be fine with just losing a few and replacing them with nice traditional witch hats. Medium armor has nice hats. Can we at least have some of those?

Hats would be cooler if they didn’t make my characters bald, though…

i dont like mage hats but i do support more hats options for all armor classes.

i do agree with hats but…..what about the lovely and always sinister scar pattern.

There’s room in this game for both your ugly collection of stupid masks and my glorious pointy witch hat. But yes, hats that didn’t make you bald would be good. I think even RuneScape had hairy hats.

I totally agree, a wizard pointy hat would be awesome.

Then ask for new hats, not for masks to be replaced by hats.

I’m not really sure what you’re getting at. If they added new hats they’d have to add new armor sets. That’s asking a lot more than for a few selfsame masks to be turned into hats

Or they could add hat skins to the gem store, like the three masks that were recently added. I would like that.

It seems a little unfair that the only way to get a hat skin would be a gem store purchase, when we’ve already got so many masks and hoodsl

uhmm, now i think of it, if town clothing could’ve bin used in battles we would have our pointy hats a long time ago already.
i still have my wizard hat laying somewhere, rotting out of sheer uselessness.

I remember that hat. I got it and then dropped it and all my other town clothes because I thought they were ugly. I figured I’d just get more later. I’ve been naked ever since.

Hell, more GW1 armours or non-armours are needed… Monk tattoo’s for instance

More variety is never a bad thing. I’d love to have a traditional wizard’kitten, or something other than a hood or mask. Even more of the jewels that Elementalists used back in GW1 or facial tattoos would be appreciated. d

I would vote for something along the lines of ioun stones from d&d. Yes we have the ele forehead stone but is usually missed as is tiny.

Yes yes everyone would love a million more cosmetic choices, but that’s not really what this thread is about. All I want is a few wizard hats.

Pointy hats have always looked silly to me for some reason, but more hats for every level of armor would indeed be nice and those that want points should have points. Once they do something about the bald issue, anyway. I’d use the wizard hat in town clothes if it could be dyed. I have no idea why they made it stuck on faded blue unless it just absolutely has to scream GANDALF at viewers.

The hat I’ve been craving since before beta is a Landsknecht hat. I want it for my Thief but I could see it being light armor only — or being a skin any class could wear, why not? My guildmate Mudora who is a fantastic artist that ArenaNet should hire THIS SECOND (shameless plug, unsolicited by her) did this sketch of our thieves meeting for the first time in pre-Beta RP, before I knew what his face would look like:

I still want the hat. A lot.

I really don’t see why you can’t transmute the appearance of one type of armor onto another type in the same slot. I don’t see why that wouldn’t work, and its not like there are really any balance issues to worry about. If that was the case I could get a hat that I at least like the appearance of, even if its not a proper wizard hat.
